On point of being a housewife - I really liked this dialogue in Thappad, where the protagonist says that no girl, when asked what she wants to be when she grows up, answers "housewife". It is the most thankless and tiring job in the world..also I feel if given a choice..I wish women would really not prefer to be housewives and be financially independent..there is NO respect in being a housewife..specifically in a patriarchal household where men literally treat women as their pairo ki jutti. Nothing has changed in India for the most part..some new gen couples are equals in marriage and share responsibilities..but mostly a women is still considered to be an inferior being in the household..it pains me to see women eating after everyone completes their meals and not have a voice of their own till date.

I hope and pray that women get the much needed respect and love that they deserve..and to some extent they will atleast get the respect if they are not dependent on their spouse for money.

I just find it odd that someone like Deepu who is all about feminism and not changing her last name - but now wants to behave like a sati savitri in the kitchen ?

Deepu is doing things she would have never done for any of her past boyfriend. Only bf she has ever made a cake for was Sid Mallay. It’s so pathetic how brainwashed she is by this immature kid. Those who are defending her choice in this thread. Yes she is doing out of love (maybe now people can stop saying he deserves better bla-bla-bla she doesn’t love him bla-bla-bla). He wanted to marry someone who will treat him like a baby and that’s exactly why he married Deepu and not any woman. So he can have someone cleaning behind him That’s why it’s so funny to me when people pity him, pity Deepika not him. It’s her choice, that’s what saddens me.

TM I see where you are coming from except don’t call Deepu careless, she cannot be careless, she is always taking care of this man. She lives to make his life easy. His words not me. So it’s time people give her the credit for it. Many times on this forum she was bashed supposedly for being a bad wife, even tho she takes care of him while he sits here doing nothing only prepping for HIS roles, his fans constantly bash her. They think there’s anyone in the world who would have handled this cry baby, instead being grateful he found someone who cares so much about his well being, they keep trolling her. Do you think how many women in Bollywood would have accepted this? Do you see any husband bragging so much the way he does? So don’t call her careless.


Oh and the other day, his crappy fans were again complaining that she burned his toasts. Why don’t you ask him to move his lazy and dumb ass up? As if she is obligated to make breakfast for him. If Deepika is not good enough than you should marry him and free her.
