who was better in their debut?

Alia: Highway

who acted better?

I’m not including ladies vs Ricky bahl or soty here. And judge only on the following films, not their entire filmography!

This might be an unpopular opinion here but I thought Alia was pretty average in Highway barring 2 - 2 and a half scenes where she was absolutely brilliant.

Parineeti was above average in Ishaqzaade the whole time but there were no scenes where she absolutely killed it.

Parineeti in Ishaqzaade was unbelievable. She nailed it. The movie was meh, but her acting was to the point.

I found Alia overrated in Highway. She wasn't bad but she wasn't that good either.

Yes I agree. The way parineeti elevated an average script like that. The film did well and was successful I think only because of her acting truely. Highway in fact was a brilliant script, a dream role for any actress. But Alia failed to elevate the script in any way. It would have just been as good with any other actress if not better.

But I believe alia did attract attention to a good film because she was able to attract a decent level of audience

Yeah Parineeti is underrated as an actress...she made a bad film like Ishaqzaade (which also had the presence of Arjun Kapoor 😒) decent with her performance...

Whereas Alia was just OK in a great movie like Highway 🤷🏽‍♀️

Parineeti in Ishaaqzaade by miles. She was talented and polished from the start. Didn't even look like her debut movie. She's so at ease during that Gauhar Khan dance number.
