KJo - no rating. I have no idea why people watch his movies still.

Farhan ko lag bhag 20 saal ho gaye ek achhi movie banakar. How is he under-rated? Agree mostly with your over-rated list though.

Siddharth Anand : From movies and interviews it's clear that he'd rather be working on Hollywood blockbusters. Take away the superstars his plots are wafer thin. Nothing uniquely Indian or even anything grounded in reality. All flash and no depth.

Underrated:

Shimit Amin directed Chak de and Rocket Singh. Reached his peak when YRF was making quality commercial movies.

Atul Sabharwal directed Aurangzeb. Much before Mirzapur,Sopranos or Peaky Blinders there was Aurangzeb which showed what went behind the doors of criminal and cop families in a slick and stylish way.

Habib Faisal of Ishaqzaade. Much like the heroine of his first movie Parineeti, Faisal came and went like a comet.

I liked Aurangzeb too but Sopranos premiered more than a decade before it. Sabharwal's Powder for YRF is an under-rated gem. Apparently he is now making a web series produced by SRK for Netflix.

This thread needs more mentions of Hirani on the over-rated lists.

Over rated - Raju Hirani, SLB, Imtiaz Ali

Under rated - Nitesh Tiwari

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is overrated ..

Shakun Batra is underrated

My bad (about the Sopranos). I don't hold any high hopes for Atul Sabharwal's web series. Wiki tells me that it has Bobby Deol, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Shriya Saran. None of the above mentioned are particularly known for their acting chops.

I liked DCH, Don, and Positive. Agree he hasn't done enough work to judge, though.

I was only irritated watching Munna Bhai 1. 3 Idiots was decent but not close to the masterpiece peeps claim it to be. PK went on too long. Didn't even bother with Sanju - the trailer made it very clear the tack they were taking.

Overated

Aditya Chopra: Boring love stories like Mohobattein, DDLJ (other than songs both are bad)

Karan Johar: Exaggerated love story and family drama (KKHH and K3G), look at his colleges always based abroad and told its india

SLB: Good sets, great costumes and songs, bad characterization and no proper story

Hirani: Munnabhai was fine, 3 idiots was a bit over, sanju was hero worship
