This might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think Kuhu ever listened to Abir in that sense. What she loves about him is that he hears her out and doesn't judge her for her apparent shortcomings, whether it was continuing to love Kunal despite his indifference or being too afraid to tell her family the truth and holding out hope that Kunal would come around. Abir was the only person who gave her space to feel what she felt but ALSO respected her decisions about how she wanted to move forward.
He sees her the way she wants to be seen, as an adult who is has her flaws but is also sensitive and talented and capable of handling her life her way. And Kuhu provides the same safe space for Abir -- that is the strength of their relationship, on which they can call each other out and show each other the right path -- because they know it's coming with the understanding that, I am not judging you as a person based on this action, but I am calling this action out as wrong.
So yes, Abir's words will have an impact, but it won't be a match for Meenu's concerted efforts and Jasmeet vocalising Kuhu's worst fears, unless she receives an equally constant stream of validation. Like I said, Kuhu responds instinctively to her immediate surroundings -- the more hostile they are, the more she struggles to keep the spark of positivity alive.
@bold: exactly
kuhu & abir behave each other in a very adult manner, just suggesting each other what they think was wrong but no judgements, thats why kuhu feels safe to share with abir rather than her own sis & husband, because she fears they will judge & reprimand her without even listening to the whole thing
and I think even in sleeping pills fiasco she went to abir's room to talk to him, but mishti closed the door on her face, though later mishti didnt spill her secret & instead it was revealed as for planning kuhu's bday surprise
so this typical behaviour of mishku of not having a detailed conversation & kuhu hiding things & mishti threatening of revealing but instead later covering them makes the matters worse & more complicated, on one side kuhu's hopes rise & on other side mishti's disappointment increases
coming to mishnal bond, I think its based more on being having similar temperaments (like both have similar ways of dealing things) unlike a real understanding & bonding with each other like kubir, maybe thats why most of us are finding it hard to accept
