Suspense of the century šŸ™„. Mubarak ho sabko, Meenu sadme se bahar aa chuki hai, aur ab hum sab sadme mein jaane wale hai.

The convo between Kuhu-Kunal was okay. I felt like ritvik wasn't in the scene. Maybe he's tired or the take simply go well but he seemed a lil disconnected. After the intensity in their previous scenes, I expect nothing less.

On the whole, I liked that Kunal was honest and Kuhu really appreciates this. Gosh! Kaveri is seriously nailing it these days with her acting. The way she looks at Kunal, overwhelmed.

What I would've appreciated more is an apology from Kunal.

Parul-Kuhu šŸ’”. Kuhu, the last thing you want to do is push Parul away. Mat kar behen, mat kar. You might need her to get Meenu some juice to calm her down when she goes off on one in futurešŸ˜‰šŸ˜†.

I don't think Parul is a servant either -- she is BB's most trusted companion and second in command. If BB were a man and Parul was her wife, their relationship would seem very familiar to us and it makes sense to me in that context. BB took on the role and work of a patriarch, so she needed someone to do what a trusted wife would in that strucutre. That is Parul's role. Subordinate to BB?Definitely. A servant? Only insofar as all wives are in a patriarchal system where they are provided for financially and materially in exchange for unwavering loyalty and domestic labour.

BB understands female solidarity because she has lived it -- she and Parul chose not to fight/blame each other over Mehul but instead built a life together where they prioritised their sons and raised them together as brothers. In a patriarchal society like ours, but especially in one as rigid as the show's universe, this is a really big deal. It's because she understands female solidarity that she is now able to exploit the lack of it in Mishti and Kuhu's equation. More on this in my reply to Nami below...

In short, the GP scenes showed that Meenu is preparing to take chun chun ke badla against all the family members who defied her, all while maintaining this sugary-sweet exterior so they think they've won the battle and don't suspect a thing. She warned Abir that if he chose Mishti she would make things miserable for Parul and Kunal, she told Kunal that supporting his brother and blackmailing her could weigh heavily on him later, and she made it clear to Parul that if she betrayed her, she would have her thrown out via Kunal's own hands (during Kuku's first shaadi). Now, she is laying the foundation to stay true to her word on all of these counts, and she's using Mishti's need for approval from authority figures, and Kuhu's insecurity about playing second fiddle to do so.

Like she said, she wanted Mishti's welcome to represent what her life in RVS would be like, and what was Mishti greeted with? Darkness and solitude. Similarly the kumkum represented how Meenu would hurt Mishti, which would indirectly hurt Kuhu; and the carpet, though apparently a way to pamper Mishti was also super important -- a carpet can be removed, you see. 😈 Probably the most disheartening foreshadowing in all this was that Mishti (despite that lecture from Abir minutes ago) chose to be silent and therefore complicit in Meenu's plans. She stopped Abir when he tried to tell Kunal that she was genuinely shaken by the surprise and she didn't tell him about the stone (was it a stone?) hidden in the kumkum.

Like I mentioned earlier, the hopeful foreshadowing is how the brothers were proactive in protecting both their own wives and each other's.

The part I found the most interesting was how Meenu framed the game. Mishti said all those sweet things about Kuhu the bahu, and Meenu basically called her bluff, saying you talk a big game Mishti, but when it comes down to it, do you care more about winning yourself and getting my approval, or do you really walk the walk when it comes to acknowledging what your husband wants and what your sister needs? The precap seems to suggest what Mishti's choice is (although precaps can definitely be misleading), and it's not surprising. Mishti has always received validation and instant gratification for prioritising her relationships with authority figures over her equals and she's just going back to what worked. Winning that game, however, will be read by Kuhu as an open declaration of competitioe, i.e. Mishti saying, I'm going to be exactly the same here as I was there.

Now that Meenu has this knowledge, she is going to work to dismantle all these relationships. Kuhu's concerns about equality are going to make her see the Parul situation in an unflattering and worldly light, and Meenu is going to exacerbate those concerns, especially if she gives Mishti the POA. So she is going to simultaneously hurt Mishti while enabling her superiority complex, Mishti's silence in the interest of a happy family facade and her own image of perfect bahu will stoke all of Kuhu's worst fears and insecurities, Kuhu will in turn hurt Parul by latching onto Meenu (for fear of becoming the Parul to Mishti's Meenu as aqua pointed out). Without Kuhu's full support, Kunal may flounder in his acceptance of Parul and by the time Abir snaps out of romance mode and realises any of this, it will be very late in the game.

TL/DR: Meenu saying, "You all think you are so smart, but I put this family together and I can rip it apart if I want to." Is this just her hubris? Maybe, but that is up to the other characters to figure out. I am just hopeful for Meenu to explore her full potential as a sophisticated antagonist. 😈

Oh damn! Oh damn!! Oh damn!!!🤯🤯

@nami, how glad am I that you asked for Sam's detailed analysis on the GP scene!!

@Sam, you blow my mind with the way you see the story playing out. And I am glad you chose to give your perspective on the female solidarity thing. The *only* part was my bad but Parul herself calls her a "servant" when she tells Kunal about Benba's blackmail. I have to say I do see your point about them being partners. Thank you for sharing.

Till now, I had seen Parul only being used as a pawn and hence my POV was based on that but with your POV, I have a backstory running through my mind. Parul always seemed like a convenient sidekick. BB may have taken Parul in because she either felt bad for her or was trying to save her family's bachi kuchi reputation after Mehul's fraud. She took on work in her father's travel company and Parul helped her out by being at home. As business flourished, so did the distance between mother and her sons. She got Kunal on her side after the Shweta fiasco (I am still not sure why Kunal hated Parul) but Parul became her zariya to reach out to Abir. Now, since both the sons are on her side, she can throw convenient sidekick who had started to find her voice, out of her house as she had promised. Anyone has anymore thoughts to add??

I love B-99 and accept the reference with humble gratitude! 😲

Although I totally agree with the chronology you've laid out, I think I see the whole BB-Parul equation in a slightly more flattering light (tbh, they were my very first ship on this show 😳). BB could have saved her family's izzat just by offering to adopt Kunal in exchange for Parul to disappear and never speak of it again, but she chose to make Parul part of her family and give her a respected position.

I did not appreciate how Parul framed the story to Kunal when she revealed the truth about Abir and Mishti's break-up. I totally see how giving up her position as Kunal's mother was a major sacrifice for his future, but even if she does see herself as the "naukrani" of the house, what pray tell was she going to do instead? She doesn't have any marketable skills other than domestic labour (and I say this free of any judgment -- it's obviously not her fault), so she would have ended up doing this kind of work anyway. With the arrangement BB offered her, she at least got to watch her kid grow up in close proximity, and with opportunities she couldn't dream of providing him (even if her husband had been around).

I don't think Kunal ever hated Parul -- he just kept his distance like he did with everyone who wasn't either Abir or Meenu. Meenu brainwashed him into believing those were the only two relationships that mattered and Parul enabled this because it was good for Kunal's future if his relationship with BB was strong -- she didn't want to get in the way. That's why I don't quite see Meenu and Parul's equation as oppressor/oppressed. Parul made a lot of conscious choices along the way, for what she saw as the betterment of her son's life; she kept quiet when it was expedient and spoke up when she felt like BB was crossing a line (like with Kuku's shaadi). Her finding her own voice and disagreeing with BB is definitely one side of it, but from BB's perspective it's more like Parul is breaking the agreement they made. Again, the interesting thing is that both of them have a leg to stand on and it's not about who's right/wrong -- it's about how they choose to make this relationship worth through these disagreements.

Sam you are right on the money here. Bigben(and therefore parul) have been written fairly well for an ITV show. She is the antagonist but does that shaan se. In fact, I do hope she comes up with some better plans in her new improved version. 😈. The haar and bus rooftop may be her idea in some shape or form too. She has known about the sisters' "love" for each other since the rishta swap in the way days.

Like you said, parul isnt as helpless as we are made to believe. There was a contract in place and bigben expects parul to abide by it. Parul is no victim. A servant... gah far from it.😳 She is the wife to the breadwinner in bigben. Who brings home the daily bread in RV family? Bigben and then kunal(the only person who bigben has genuinely victimized is kunal. To a fault that he now decided to draw a line under the MA<>bigben drama and get the two married)

My whole frustration with the way bigben plots is that they are so lame at times. If this time she has worked out the Domino effect, then more power to her. Ever since I realised kunal is Parul's son (they gave us hints very early on), I have been intrigued by Bigben.

I have also seen posts commenting on her terrible makeup. I actually believe it's not by accident, it's by design. She has no training or time to deck herself up. Her husband's(for whom she went against her family to marry in the 1st place) beautiful mistress is around her 24x7 and i doubt she goes up to anyone and asks how to use the various beauty products. No one ofcourse dares to tell her that she doesnt use them correctly. I refuse to believe she has no sense of aesthetics. The RV house is tastefully done. Kunal's room is modern and up to date. I think her makeup is telling a story too.

Whoever is writing her, pls do a better job of her plots this time around.

Fantabulous...šŸ‘
@Bold This is her plan B. Her plan A was to stop MishBir wedding—- Fixing same date as kuku divorce date and instigating kuhu to claim her rights at the right moment.

When her plan A miserably failed, her plan B has been applied where her explicit pawns are kuhu and Jas, implicitly Mishti will also be used. But this plan of hers will fail as usual but a lot of people will hurt in the process either physically or mentally.

But I think BP words today is also an indication of this track. Yes he know BB is no less than an demon but the life partners of their daughters are incomparable. He is very much confident that Abir will handle his mom now that he has kunal on his side because he is aware that kunal is Abir’s weakest point.
Mishti is a confused child and kuhu is an unsecured child. I don’t blame them because former is a foster child and latter is a illegitimate child. The wounds that the society gave them is still sore. I think Jas would have played a major role in keeping their wounds sore till now.

In that sense, RV brothers are more fortunate than the sisters. All the credits goes to Parul Maasi. Now my only hope is on Abir because he never believed his mother ever... and I don’t think he will be full on romance mode and neglect seeing things going around them especially around Mishti. I liked when he asked Kuhu ā€˜Bro is this your plan’.
as soon as Mishti panicked the first person came to his mind is ā€˜Ma’. So he suspects’Ma’ first and then Kuhu who are most eligible people to hurt Mishti.

Even if Mishti hides the family drama from Abir, I don’t think Abir will leave her to suffer alone. It will look like he is walking behind her, blinded to their surroundings but in reality he will observing the things that are revolving around her like he noticed JAs whispering into Mishti’s ears during bidaai.
He will let her lead and follow her as a shadow. But at the right time, he will take the lead in their relationship.
Likewise he will also make sure that kuhu is not hurt in this process as well because of his promise to BP and for his nanko.

Some really interesting discussion happening here. I will catch up with all the posts later, but first I need to watch the KuKu scene again to see the rainbows in Kuhu's ghungat. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I was so focused on Kunal's expressions that I didn't notice that in my first viewing.
