The thing is in Canada where you spend so much time trying to connect to your misplaced sense of culture and holding onto everything desi that really our groups end up becoming a potpourri of all the different dialects. My group of friends sounds hella Gujju, Punjabi, Marati (although my marati is questionable at best. Sometimes I try to speak it with my mum trying to tell her something as a Secret and she’s like even I can’t understand what you said it’s that secret 🤣😂) Tamil, Parsi —- Heck we even sound like we all from Haryana at times.

True, pur culture is such that we all kinda interexchange with eachother s specialist nd i love that about our culture. Evwn i kinda sound like nd use most punjabi words in my day today life. Our culture is what binds us all together nd m very much proud of it.

Awesome point! This is why we call ourselves a potpourri rather than a melting pot. We’re all very much an individual with our own sense but together we create a new smell with different undertones. 😃

The reason I asked is I’m very aware of how appropriation is kind of like lost in India main stream (Haryanvi vs Someone actually from Haryana).

Don’t mean to digress this conversation but I find Indians (perhaps mostly older gen) to be some of the most racist people around and then they have the galls to speak about racism (Main reason why I’ll never like or support PC 🐷)
