Why would Rudra lie?

I didn't get one thing today, why did Rudra lie about Maya being with him on the day Rishi died? And the way he spoke about the revenge thing was a bit suspicious.

because he loves maya so much. he trusts her blindly. he cannot even imagine maya killing someone. So people here are thinking that rudra might be on to something. While i believe that rudra does not know anything. he is just supporting his newly wedded wife. that's it
