I think as we know our traditions have mostly been patriarchial. No offense to anyone.

In fact Lord Ram was first to promise Sita Maa to be a monogamist. Since India is Ram Rajya, hindu marriage Act doesnt allow polygamy.

But Vishnu ji has taken Mohini avatar and been a consort of Shiv (Lord Aiyappa is son of HariHara) so I guess God's know both sides of life.
