Looking at the list Ajay had better track record at the BO than Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar. That's before he started doing art movies which reduced Box office hit until Golmaal Series revived the 90s success.

He has always been given due credit of his successes in 90's & he always got benefit out of them to establish himself as a big star.

No male star of 90's was wrongly rated, be it ajay, akki, govinda, sunny, anil, sunjay or Khans.

I do agree Rohit shetty played a role in his revival but many seem to believe ajay had a failing career before shetty, that maybe true from 2000 till 2007 where his movies were not doing well commercially but that could be down to several factors, the genre of movies he was doing did appeal to the commercial audience, I would say he definitely one of biggest star 90s he had a bad pr to represent that.

He got more than he deserved so not underrrated.

Overrated in sense I don’t rate him comedy even though he found a lot of success in comedy, but in intense role he’s the best in that link he done Singham whic( was commercial action film but his character intense angry guy suits him better.
