Was Kalank as bad as it was made out to be?

More than it is made out to be.

That movie looked like an Ekta serial. It would have made a great soap for mindless watching but not a great movie.

The setting felt to sterile. Roop I really didn’t understand her motive. I felt Varun’s character is everything she was against but she fell for him.

The movie wasn't that bad. But Alia was the biggest miscast. She can't do period films. Kiara would've been a better Roop and Kriti could've played Kiara's role.

Also overexposure of anything (in this case Alia) is not good. Plus nepotism became a big thing and even the public started understanding how Alia was getting all these films and became a part of every hit genre.

Sanjay, Madhuri, Sonakshi and ARK were great. Songs were great. Sorry would've worked if there were different leads. Anyone else should've been cast in Varun's place. Maybe if the director would have his own personal touch instead of making it look SLB-ish. And no interference from KJo would have made a world of a difference.

Completely agree , KJO wanted to take on SLB but got the whole setting wrong, just large setting and packed backgrounds, lavish sets and costumes do not make a film a hit.

Kalank also got the setting wrong, there were too many mix ups

I watched Kalank in theater and it's the only movie where I wanted to leave the theatre even before interval but I couldn't as it was raining heavily outside and had to bear the trauma of watching the full movie in theater. I kid you not but I got severe headache while watching it even when half of the time I was staring at my phone screen or here and there. I didn't understand what they were thinking while signing this movie in the first place. It was that bad.

And I think the movie was worse than it is credited for. Everything about the movie was OTT. Acting is the secondary issue, story didn't make any sense tbh.

such lazy writing..acting..and a mess of too many characters and boosting their egos by putting unnecessary dance numbers etc..where is the movie in this movie?

Sonakshi should have played Roop...I just love her screen presence in well written roles and she has the old school BW charm. She would be perfect. Alia was miscast IMO

I'm a big fan of Dhama and one of Madhuri's biggest stars, and I adore Alia and Sonakshi and I wanted the film to do well for all of them, and the soundtrack was gorgeous, but sadly the film was complete trash. They thought they would just sit there and copy SLB's sets and throw in some bangers from Pritam and make Alia cry it will make a good film. Hell no. You need a story that's more than 5 lines stretched out. So disappointing.
