You misread. I said she opened his eyes by leaving him because before that his life only revolved around her. The dude didnt even have any friends. In a way she did a favour on him by leaving him and teaching him that theres more to life than her.

I am no scholar but from my research I found that men are responsible to take care of their wives and not the other way round which is why they have been allowed multiple marriages... both genders have different nature and women have always been more compromising and patient. Seeing the amount of tantrums men have and I can say by experience husbands literally behave like babies it would be very difficult for women to handle more than one husband. If men have been given permission to marry more than once, its not just for their enjoyment but it comes with a lot of responsibility too. They have to treat all wives equally and keep a balance in their duties, their expenses etc which is very tough. Failing to do so, they will be accountable for it on the day of judgment and get punished. Also, when it comes to sexual needs, they need more than women do. Men need more physical needs whereas women lean more towards emotional needs and are loyal towards one man.

Another reason i once heard in a lecture by a scholar i think it was dr zakir naik....he said that if women were allowed multiple marriages, when they got pregnant they wouldnt know who the father was.

I am sure there is more deep logic to it and only a scholar would be able to discuss it properly with evidence
