Ps. I love bilal Phillips as well. All the scholars are human and make mistakes, it’s up to us to also do our own investigations. But my go to for all questions are Mohammad salah or sheikh Aseem.

Yes we were taught both these ways are correct...but the first one was more recommended

i have a few friends who study in bilal philips islamic online university doing masters in islamic studies...they said bilal philips said to avoid those scholars like noman ali because their theories tend to be more westernized

Noman ali khan is not a scholar. He gives a disclaimer usually before his lecture that he's not a scholar but has learned the Arabic language extensively and uses that to tall about the Quran

I don't know much about the English speaking scholars. But as far as Arabian scholars , we have the same problem here, everyone bashes the others , say they are wrong. But most of their differences are in minor issues, all of them are helping ppl to understand Islam, solve their problems, and learn the rules of our religion. It is ok to follow any of them if you are a beginner. After you are able to discuss the matters of Islam you can form your own views by the help of ancient books , or following the 1st groups of schoolars, like the 4 Ayimma (sunnah) .

The difference between Aymma, and ordinary ppl is that they can extract rules of Islam from Quraan and sunnah (hadeeth sahih) . Sometimes it looks like there are different hadeeths on the same matter , there is naskh. Means some of them cancell the previous ones, so a person should reach to the stage of aalim to start making his own rules. It is tough.

There are several reliable ahadith that describe the prophet praying witr in different ways. Keep switching how you pray witr so that you have followed all the different ways. He switched to switch it up too.

Witr prayer is different than salat al maghrib

Ppl who do the 3 rakats with one tasleem, don't have to read 2 tashahhud , one one the 2nd and one on the 3rd rakaa..prophet (pbuh) forbided it. Only one tashahhud in the last rakaa. 😊

you are lucky if you know arabic...you can follow all the well known scholars like ibn taymiyah and ibn katheer :D

i used to watch yt lectures of some musa jibril he was good too

and for books i always go for darusalam publications because they are the most reliable

we have a mosque here which is run only by teachers who have degrees from university of madinah :D

Masha Allah. This is good too. I think all the muslim needs to know is ibadat and ahkaam. How to pray, fast or do hijj , what are the rules of Islam. Rest of things about aqeedah, ppl should stop deciding on who is a true muslim and who isn't . Leave it to Allah .

I still stand by what I said about following a hadith even if it contradicts any of the madhab.

For example rafa ul yadein , raising the hands before going in ruku and after coming up.

Imam Hanafi doesn't have that ruling but the hadith is there. And I don't want to miss out on the reward so I do it.

There are many authentic sayings right out of his lips that he asks people to follow the hadith and sunnah. If they find something in hadith and sunnah that contradicts his rulings then to follow the hadith.
