I'll only say RESPECT PEOPLE'S CHOICE and stop DISSING them ...be it Rural/Urban viewers

Most of the ppl watch the show because they love/enjoy it, SIMPLE ....be it saas bahu , supernatural stuff , love story ..whatever it be!! ....

They don't have that much time to dedicate it (like us ) to analyse character that we like/dislike rather most of them do not watch a show that they hate/dislike , already so much tension in life why to give so much attention to something that we hate 😆....SAHI TOH HAIN !!!

TRP is a general reflection of the show is being viewed by many and hence money coming ....

And mind you TRP is Important ... I have watched numerous show which were logical and having tight-screenplay but it tanked , one of my fav show tanked as there was low trp though I say It was one of best show but the cast and team was clearly upset with its failure .... Good TRP opens Opportunities to these people .....

And just because my show failed I won't tag viewers as Regressive or masochist or chauvinist etc ...... This is same audience who loves Dabang and same who loves Queen . Same audience who loves YHM(in its initial year )and same who loves Naagin ...

So I accept that my show somewhere failed to connect with majority audience and blame goes to the Maker and Channel .

My only request STOP LOOKING DOWN UPON VIEWERS(RURAL/URBAN) just because they are not in sync with your thoughts ....

Also please note, not all URBAN viewers have access to NET .

Most of these urban viewers are homemakers/family who watch the show on TV, these set of audience is basically hmm rural in Urban kinda .

Please who have access to NET watch the show on HOTSTAR as priase/diss .

Whatever it be moot point is People watch something because they love it or find something interesting about it .

I think we are saying the same thing but in different words...

I have no where tried to say TRPs are no important because they are definitely important to makers and everyone associated with the show. TRP means profit, that means earning, but is it that important to audience, that's debatable, because who has to watch will watch irrespective of the TRP, which is the case with every show. So if anything made you feel I am saying TRP is not important, then may be I didn't make it clear enough. But TRPs are important. no dispute on this point.

Also the post is not about the connection/disconnection of the audience with the show. At any given point in time some will feel connected and other's may not, depends on the track. We are alike and cannot like same thing. The post is more about how we tend to generalize our choice on Rural Market and it not restricted to this show, there are sooo many things out there we do on a daily basis. Whereas rural people really don't have anything to do with Prerna, Anurag, Bajaj, Komolika, etc. Their choices are different, saying only based on the data.. this nowhere means they don't watch such shows at all.

If anything made you feel I was trying to make anyone looked down upon or something.. apologies.. but the intent of the post not that, its more on kind of viewership we see in Rural areas.. Its more about generalising views based on our assumptions, many a times not supported by facts. We all do that..

The power of fandoms is incredible when used properly by the artist or when they have a sense of identity other than being just a fan. Women TV artist fandoms(some male) and male movie fandoms are generally incredibly toxic in nature who resort to the vilest language. They make me want the fandom culture to die.

My post was not an answer to your post , It was keeping in mind the views that I saw floating today in forum and your post too , Apologies if my post made you feel attacked or anything .

What I'm trying to point out here is when you say URBAN Audience it does not mean all who have access to Internet ....when I say internet It means watching show . Urban and rural both viewers are on whatsapp/facebook but naah not all watch show on Net .

Lot of Urban homemakers and family still prefer TV as a medium of entertainment .

That's why I said these viewers can be called rural in Urban area .

I loved your post, so had to make a comment. I LOVE reading analyses based on statistical backing simply because I SUCK at it though I am in awe of Statistics as a subject. And also, your post made a lot of sense. Coz I remember discussing this some months ago on the Forum. BARC releases separate rural and urban ratings, and there was a mention that rural charts have repetitions of old shows on Anmol and Pal and like you said Dangal TV (which doesn't come in my house thanks to that subscription system 😆). So TRP Aunties and all are urban people only..not rural people..and surprisingly I have noticed the TRP toppers - Bhagya shows rank well in the rural charts but not the current run, the old episodes on Anmol rank better. Though I have no idea why. 😆 But you made a thread about the same and it's high time we call ourselves Aunties/Uncles/Bros of TRP system. Though idk what the sample of the rating system is. Do you have any information regarding which cities form the sample size?

I liked that post a lot which you have pointed out , as I agree that our society is by n large "regressive " ..some may also call it our culture or roots..the westerns call it regressive thinking ..

Anyways, I will no way defend kzk 2 , choices r fine ..but this is what ekta wants..attention..her shows were , are and always be dissed and mocked because she makes it that way ...she wants people to talk about it ,in a positive or negative way ..anyone who has been following her knows this as a fact , she has said this in many interviews..right from ksbkbt days when she was accused of showing regressive content on tv..this was her reply, which I just mentioned....

Rural audience , I dont know they connect to these type of shows or not but as a general audience , what Intrigues urban plus rural is something out of the box....what we consider irrelevant , women wanna watch the costumes , sets, drama, rich lifestyle also......not daily ka seriousness bec its therr in everybody's life already.. how is it affecting the minds of the people is entirely different topic..is there any ekta serial till date in which the hero isnt rich and the heroine isnt middle class ? Cliche right from ksbkbt times..humiliations of female lead and her tears bring trps...women find it normal.

It's not rural vs urban debate..there r millions of people who have never seen a daily soap ..in urban regions...the regional shows on regional channels are a super hit too......I didnt know a channel like dangal exists..its doing very well ..

Now about the choices of watching ..blame it on the technology ...a PC is not needed to converse..suddenly everyone is talking a lot bec of technology .....a conversation can NOT be left midway like in a forum.....a book cannot be left midway..a film cannot be left midway ...a story has to reach its logical conclusion....a serial once someone starts watching,they may or may not continue to watch but they will keep talking about it till the end...deal with it...all that's happening on this forum is an ego battle between fandoms because of which nobody backs off.....everyone knows the show is bullshit ..and it will continue to be..worse with time..

Wow a post attacking a member's views on something. This forum don't fail to amaze me in it's obsession with show and characters they call crap, boring and unworthy. And personally attacking members.
