Why did they change Maya’s mom from season 1?

If you guys are remember, Maya had a different mom in season 1, right???

This season is totally different from past one. So, it had to. And if you're talking about character, it's about how the story demands.

It's just that the obsession is same, there it was love & here it's Nafrat. Her name is Maya Jaisingh not Mehrotra. I hope it's clear.
