I was being lazy and didn't qualify my sentence when typing on my phone. It's in reference to what I was saying a while ago to Gur about the kid chosen to play Arya looking a bit like Roshni.

In no way do I mean she's Imarti's child. If at all she has the bravado that Imarti has (I don't know because I'm not watching the show) then it's been passed on to her via HS and not directly from Imarti.

Also, when HS said Minnie didn't take after either of her biological parents but after Imarti, it was a figure of speech anyway. He's attached to Minnie because of how thinks and behaves, which reminds him a lot of Imarti. When HS said early in the show that he wanted to see an Imarti in every woman (or something along those lines) he meant he wanted that fighting spirit. Minnie had it, and it makes sense that they'd both want Arya to be that way.

As for Babita's hand in Minnie turning out the way she is, well there was an episode where Babita tells HS that she's looking for a job and where she berates herself for being stupid and not smart like Minnie, following which HS points out that Minnie turned out this way because Babita instilled that confidence in her. They were mirror images. This is the essence of their relationship. Nobody is a perfect parent, but with a person like Babita it is quite clear that despite her flaws and mistakes, there's no doubt she loves Minnie a lot and will want what's best for her. Her thought process and route for getting there is different to Minnie's, hence some of the clashes, but her intention is never in question.

@bold — HS didn’t say that. Babita did. Babita said in Holi episode right before applying color on HS’s forehead that HS wants to see Imarti in every woman.

She herself would be proud that Mini has Imarti’s fighting spirit and that her Arya would also have the same.

I agree with you in the fighting spirit. Babita has it too, but the form it takes differs from Minnie's. Minnie's manifestation must clearly resemble a lot like Imarti's, hence why HS feels so attached to her.

I'm not denying Babita's role in Minnie's upbringing and never will. That woman single handedly raised her daughter and made her into who she is. Yes, Minnie is bound to be influenced by other external factors, but that is the case for every human being. She's not special in this sense. Babita acknowledges the flaws within her and constantly strives to do better for her daughters, and that's what mothers do.

Babita post marriage is a wacko and I don't even consider her to be canon. But the Babita pre marriage did everything in her power to make sure her daughter didn't get squashed by the world's repressive ways. Undoubtedly, she did the same for Arya.

Babita was a fighter herself and raised her daughters to be the same. Ever in doubt? Watch the episode post the court scene. THAT is Babita's strength. It's not out and loud like Minnie or Imarti's. It's quiet, and yet solid like a mountain.

Agree about Imati's essence being passed on, and we saw that too in the pre-wedding ceremonies where Imarti almost seemed to bless Minnie/pass the baton on. They just happened to have a lot of things in common and learning about her gave Minnie a sense of purpose too. The core of Minnie's nature came from her life with the Khuranas, but under Babita's close watch. Yes, that court scene, and the way Babita really took on HS' words to Minnie (that were also for Babita's benefit) and showed her daughter the way in those moments, was really commendable. It is this very strength that enabled her to rise again and open up the restaurant, albeit in implied mode.

I had once compared Imarti to fire and Babita to earth because of their nature. I still see Babita that way - she had always come across as someone who had great capacity to absorb and to soothe but then of course things went wacko as you said. I choose to ignore the last couple of months especially.

Yes she did.

Actually I was referring to what HS said to Minnie about not being afraid and being strong, because seeing both of them progress would make him feel as if his Imarti was alive in both of them. (Episode 28). He was trying to say he wanted to see the same fighting spirit in both of them that Imarti had.

She understood HS even then, even when she barely knew him. She doesn't get credit for understanding HS's feelings towards Imarti when she wrote a letter to Imarti as HS. She also doesn't get credit for understanding Imarti's emotions behind her letter to SS. She doesn't get credit for mending HS and SS's relationship. She doesn't get credit for respecting HS's love for Imarti and also for accepting that HS would probably always love Imarti more than her.

Writers ne itne battar tarike se Babita ke character ko butcher kiya that everyone’s forgotten her good qualities.

It's either that people have forgotten or have started to twist her good qualities into something ugly so that they can glorify Minnie. Understanding HS' feelings? She didn't do it because she was in tune with HS, she did it out of curiosity. Her interpreting the letter to SS and mending that relationship? She had no reason to do it as she wasn't going to benefit from it in any way whatsoever, and yet she still did. It's okay for HS to carry Imarti into his new marriage but when Babita is unable to shake off her rocky past, then she's labelled with god knows what.

Matters have reached a point where no one gives a damn about Babita as long as Minnie and HS are there. Even now, so many viewers are willing to see HS rather than Babita when the truth is that this has always meant to be about Babita's story. It was supposed to be her journey to emancipation. Her journey to becoming independent and highly successful. Minnie and HS played an important in that journey, but they weren't supposed to eclipse the story in the manner that they did.

Matlab Maa ka mardo par kal ka aaya hoya admi bachna chahiye. The fck kinda logic is this? I'm not faulting the viewers for thinking this way, because the fault lies solely with the writers. It's their fault for butchering Babita's character to this extent. It's their fault that they wrote the best materials for HS & Minnie but saved disgusting lines like, "teri parahi ke baad, jahan humein teekh lage, wahan hum tumhari shaadi karvadenge" for Babita. The terrace scene was more than enough proof that they are still more than capable of writing class PB styled scenes. They just CHOSE to not do it so that it'll be easier for the audience to hate Babita and feel the most sympathy for Minnie, and to a large extent HS.

I just can't believe they actually went out of their way to make Babita the villain of this show. Whether she was alive or dead, all the sacrifices that Minnie made, all the trauma and the source of her grief has been linked back to Babita. Disgusted and appalled don't even come close to expressing how I feel.

You said it all 🙌. Thank you for articulating it so well. As a woman, I have been deeply affected by what they did to Babita’s character towards the end of the show, more than I can explain. It sickens me actually.

It was such a contrived way to make Babita the villain and the root of all problems. And to think a woman (RS) wrote this about another woman 🤔. I can’t believe they used Babita out of everyone. Why didn’t Khatri and Ashok and Lovely had to repent for their deeds??? 🙄. Just makes me sick thinking about it.

If that was their strategy, then it failed big time. Instead of being sympathetic towards Mini, everyone’s pissed at the writers for taking this route because it just looks so forced.

People act as if Babita should have never existed. If she didn’t exist, neither would Mini, nor would Arya lol.

Have said this million times but this show was about Babita’s journey, and not only did they not complete her journey in a proper manner, they did complete injustice to her character as well.

the writers made me feel that all the 180 episodes of Pb that i watched with all my heart was a sheer waste of time

Imarti's "fighting spirit" is an exaggeration.. people tend to exaggerate qualities of those who depart.. We have not been given any insight on this immense fighting spirit of hers barring Hanuman's words.. which hardly matter much considering he is a man mourning his dead wife.. writers tried to make Imarti this out of the world, perfect character which is quite stupid to be honest..

That said, Mini is NOT Imarti's and Hanuman's daughter and neither is Arya.. any indication of this is actually belittling Babita's motherhood

By the way, Mini was so concerned about Khuranas being left alone with no one to take care of them when Babita broke off her relations with them.. so who took care of them for five years and who will take care of them now.. did Mini think about that?

The writers are so idiotic by giving this a Mini giving up her dreams to expand Babita's angle.. Make Mini admit Arya to a boarding school, hire a manager for the restaurant and be done with it

But nahi.. they want another long session of Mini's survival "rolls eyes"

I find the narrative that goes Mini should have been HS and Imarti's daughter so absurd (I am talking about writers implying this). Like, no credit is given to Babita for actually single-handedly raising Mini, and also undermining her role in Mini turning out to be the way she did. Also, how every given point, they try to convey that Mini is Babita's foster mother is just another level of absurdness that I can't fathom 😆
