I don’t altogether agree with the rest because if we are being fair here, you’re also describing babita. She’s hit mini to assert authority and vent her anger and she’s most certainly also verbally degraded her. They’ve both made mistakes as parents but I don’t think either has reached the point of no return. Imo both ashok and babitas character is selfish and puts themselves first

well even after yesterdays night bhashan from HS she decided to go n tell mini that they will get her married off once she completes education. Phir to kya hi samjhegi wo. She had the audacity to do that. And HS still knows nothing about it.

Mini why dint you take HS with you and take him away from this torture. She did that for her mother ab HS ke liye kar leti. At least freed him from your promise while going.

I think Minnie's just fed up of everything and wants to focus on herself. Let the adults sort out their own mess.

Ultimately, HS has to take the right decisions regarding his marriage. I also feel that he thinks if he breaks it off with Babita, he will lose the only thread connecting Minnie to him. This thinking has been his biggest mistake till date because it stifled the natural development of his bond with Minnie but it might be too late.

Living in the uk you see this a lot because of single mums. When the relationship ends sour, the children are the ones to suffer. The mum and dad both move on with other partners but all the while because the mums affections have changed they automatically expect the kid to regard the latest man as “dad”, stop the kids seeing the father and spend every moment possible turning them against their father. They had the potential here to show the difference in spousal relationship and parental. Ashok wasn’t a perfect parent but babita is not a perfect mother also. Just because he was a bad husband doesn’t mean he should be automatically denied the chance to be a father. But with mothers like babita it’s got to be one or the other. Similarly she expected mini to not speak to her own grandparents because of the in-laws they were to her. Not even that, primarily it was so they don’t question HER as a mother and say she’s too focused on her new marriage (which she ended up being anyways) lmao

I also think for all NB's words, she failed him when he needed her after Imarti's death. She stopped going to see him. Maybe that's why it was easy for her to come up with that boat analogy.

NB HS despite being together since childhood havent really fully been able to become mother-son. they both have failed each other as you all said when needed. Maybe HS was insecure of his relation with mini because of that experience. They really couldnt live it fully being it a only dil ka rishta
