On regular basis, Tara has to get her own team. She cannot get Anaita, Tanvi etc to style her and get Mickey Contractor for makeup since she is an outsider and is new to the industry. So sometimes she scores and sometimes she fails. Thats her responsibility.

SOTY had its own grooming, makeup and styling team (curtesy: Dharma). They were responsible for how Tara's character looked in the movie. So Punit can be blamed.

Tara works with Mehak Oberoi who is a top Bobbi Brown make-up artist. Make-up isn't rocket science that only Mickey Contractor can do it well. There are a lot of good ones.

Dharma only gave her a supporting role but it's not like she was tricked. I'm sure she knew from the beginning what kind of role it was and she still took it. She was not good even in the supporting role. You can make an impact even with smaller roles as many actors have done it before.

Of course it's tough for outsiders as they don't get the best roles initially but they know what they are getting into. Actually she was lucky that Dharma promoted her so much and got her on a lot of magazine covers for that small role.

I think her makeup artists change? Mehak's done a couple of photoshoots and some events but not all. Tara's worked with Tanvi Chemburkar as well...but Mehak's done a better job on her imo. But idk why her makeup looks bad when the paps click her vs in normal photos.

If a role is written terribly, I don't think an actor can do anything to make it appealing. Mridula was a half baked character so imo no actor could make her likeable or convincing.

And Zoya on the other hand is super cute. The styling is better, the character seems better...more depth...
