Precap - They show Ashok's letter @ 21.03. I paused and read. It says:

Ashok congratulates Hanuman and Babita on their marriage. Says I hope you are able to give her khushiyan and pati ka pyar that I couldn't. He says he understands that HS probably doesn't want him to reach out to Babita directly which is why he is sending the letter to HS. Ashok says along with the letter, he has also sent 50,000 RS which he owed Babita for the flight tickets to London that she got him. He further says, my relationship with your wife is still intact because of Mini. It doesn't matter however much Babita denies, Mini is his daughter too and usse milne ka, samajhne or samjhane (I didn't quite get it) ka, contact mein rehne ka usse haq hai. Wherever he's been, he has always sent Mini gifts for her birthday, but this time he didn't (didn't quite get it)... and he goes along to say some of those money he sent is what he owed to Babita, and the remaining is for Mini (something along the line of whatever I could gather).

I have a feeling Ashok will finance Mini's education in Australia.

This doesn't have to be his whitewashing tho. It could be his own guilt resurfacing. Also he is a human who messed up big time but I guess he is not vile to the core.

There is one more thing I have often observed. Whatever relations function in one culture, they might not do so in another one along the same lines, if you see what I mean. Meeta Ashok worked out just fine in London but failed in India, but this is not some individual failure. This would have happened with lots of couples who weren't conscious about the transition they made by changing the social setting /norms surrounding them. I have seen this irl also quite often...

Two points on this:

1. Meeta is a sensible women yet she saw something in him that even made her stay when she found out about his family

2. The scene where he was sent away. Jail seem to at leasz have calmed him down. And after the confrontation or even before it, as hanuman took his fir back, he must have realised that hanuman has been living babita just like he has loved Meeta.... So he greeted him at that point respectfully for that as well as he was going. I am sure it impacted him to some extent.

I agree with Reka. The letter didn't make it seem like they were trying to whitewash him. Rather, he is acknowledging all the mistakes he made and is trying to make up for them in whatever way he can. He doesn't expect Babita to forgive him or invite him back into her life and thus hasn't asked for it. He paid back whatever she gave him in ways that are simple, i.e., monetary.

That being said, he is right that no matter how much Babita denies it, Minnie is his child. If not emotionally at the moment, then definitely by blood. If he wants to reconcile with her, have some sort of relationship with her, then he has every right to want it. Whether or not Minnie wants it in return is a different matter.

HS will obviously support Minnie in whichever decision she makes. Besides, hadn't he brought up the hypothetical situation of, if Ashok ever tried to reach out to her, will she listen? At the time she had dismissed, but it's not hypothetical anymore. It's very real and she will have to decide one way or another.

However she gets it, Minnie needs closure. Whether she chooses to keep Ashok forever in her life as her permanent dad, or at a distance and think of him from time to time, she needs the opportunity to get there.

HS may understand this but Babita definitely won't. She'll be terrified of losing her to Ashok. As it is, there are tensions in their home regarding HS and his fatherly status. If Minnie rejects him (officially) and chooses Ashok, it'll devastate them both even more.
