Yes, I donât think anyone disagrees that Mini needs to learn to balance and let go many times as well.
I donât think she consciously wants to fight all of Babitaâs battles, but she canât help herself when she sees her mom in pain or discomfort....itâs an instinct that drives her to try to take away her motherâs pain. Much like the instinct that drives many parents to want to fight all battles for their children. Itâs a struggle to let go and let the child grow on its own. That is what Mini struggles with because in many ways, Babita gives the impression of a clueless and hapless child....so Mini steps up to play parent.
But at the end of the day, Mini isnât really a parent. Sheâs been a pseudo parent to Babita in some ways but she canât fully know what it means. Which is why she struggles more with letting go of Babita to let her fall and hurt herself.....If she was an actual adult trying to be a parent, she would see some of the pitfalls of this differently...but sheâs a child trying to be a parent so that compounds some mistakes.
There was a lovely scene during the depression track when Babita talks to Mini about how she taught her to walk and how she used to be so scared of Mini falling and hurting herself, she used to cling tightly to her hand....but ultimately she realized she had to let go of her hand and she did.....
Thatâs the lesson Mini has to learn as well I guess. She was kinda learning it when she put Babitaâs hand in that of HSâs during the wedding and tried to step back but the CD incident flipped everything again.
