Emraan Hashmi is the most pathbreaking star in the history of Bollywood, because what he did will stay forever in Hindi movie industry. That is normalizing kissing and sex scenes in the movies and not to be seen as cheap or B-grade. Emraan Hashmi made it A-grade and acceptable in Bollywood.

Firstly, Kissing scenes were done by Aamir, Juhi, Madhuri, Rani, Anil Kapoor, Kamalhaasan, Govinda and so many persons even before Emraan came into picture.

But people used to look down on them. And those like Mayamemsaab-turned-Saint SRK even used to make statements trying to put down those who smooched onscreen to cook up his fake family man image or to use it as a dig to target Aamir.

Then, came Emraan. He made Kissing popular among single screen crowd. But, Emraan films were mostly Adult ones and he never really made it to A list.

I think Kissing stopped being looked down as a taboo or such a big deal in Mainstream films at large mostly after Hrithik - Ash kiss of Dhoom 2. Some idiot filed a case against them and Public was openly supporting the stars for their kiss. Infact, Hrithik was the only Top star who did not make a big deal out of kissing onscreen. Thats when people grew up. And later, even hypocrites like SRK started kissing onscreen.

My point is that Emraan made kissing acceptable in Bollywood by doing it in every film. Audience got used to it. Now like you said, other stars also did kissing but they were considered cheap. Aamir's Raja Hindustani was an ATBB so I guess Aamir and Karishma broke the barrier? I don't think so. Other stars were kissing once in a while. Emraan broke the barrier by doing it in his every film.

Emraan made it popular and cool and other stars followed it. Now its like a must in a romantic movie to have a kiss.
