I recently finished binge-watching the show so maybe the story is all very fresh in my mind and I can see the overall arcs pretty clearly.

The way I saw it, Hanuman was never presented as a perfect human being....from very early on, he was quite vocal about how his thoughts and personality evolved over time.....the fact that his drinking problem was continued as an arc for so long also shows that he wasn't some saint who had the answers to all problems in life.....he clearly grappled and still grapples with his own demons.

Courage is an interesting emotion.....all three principle characters in this show express it differently.....Mini expresses it in the most brash way possible....but deep vulnerability lurks within that she keeps a tight leash on for the sake of protecting her mother.....Babita has FOUND courage over time....but her way of expressing it is very different....she still struggles with finding courage in key moments....Hanuman is courageous about many things in life....learned experience having gone through deep pain and heartbreak himself....but his courage too has its limits and there are some things he still doesn't have the courage to face fully.....like reconciling his emotions for Imarti without being so raw over them.

I'm saying this because I genuinely don't understand why people thought Hanuman was ever a perfect character....lol....he's always been an immensely likeable character, no doubt....but the writing provided glimpses of darker shades to him since the very beginning....he presents an affable demeanor but his mood changes the moment you hit a raw nerve.....he's displayed his own temper tantrums many times with both Mini and Babita.....so this was never a perfect man.....he was a man who was quite honest about his failings.

I honestly find it very fascinating that this show is exploring Babita as a woman in all her shades rather than showing some smooth transition to a happy future....is that ever how it goes in real life? No matter how good two people are? Undoubtedly Hanuman and Babita are both wonderful people who deserve happiness after having lived through so much tragedy in their lives.....but they will still have to WORK their way towards that happiness because they both carry deep scars from their pasts....it has shaped them, it will still trigger them.....triggers don't disappear overnight the moment you fall in love with someone.....this is an evolving journey.

Most shows these days don't even make a token attempt to explore this....I'm very thankful that this show is.....kudos to the writing team.

Re: Imarti....I'm actually intrigued to see Hanuman's journey towards reconciling his love for Babita alongside his love for Imarti.....he hasn't fully managed to do that yet despite how loving and supportive he is for Babita....he claims he loves only Imarti like he has to repeat it like a talisman....somewhere he has his own barriers in his mind that he is not facing directly.....this is why this journey isn't just about Hanuman being there to help Babita rise above the demons of her past....I suspect she will do the same for him when the time comes to face Imarti's ghost again in the course of fully forming this family unit.....for that, Babita needs to reach a stronger place again mentally and feel fully confident of her place in his life again. She was there for a brief moment, but circumstances conspired to make her retreat into a shell again.....it will take time to come out of it. As you said, she is yet to fully experience that kind of love between a man and a woman.....what she briefly got with Ashok was toxic....there's a lot of healing that Hanuman's love still needs to give her for her to come out of this mental state.

Completely agree with everything you said. I have been saying the same thing for a while but you have articulated in a beautiful way. Glad to find someone else on the same page as I. HS is a flawed character but I love him regardless. The whole andar ki aag, andar ka rakshas was something that we saw glimpses of but was shutdown before we saw much of it. There has to be a reason why he wanted to push mother-daughter away and feared for them, something which I believe we are yet to see and will surface in an interesting way in future.

I have always wanted to see a track where HS has to come to terms with who he is as a Babita's life partner and how he views himself as a man in love with his second wife, understanding and learning to be more at ease with his emotions for her, without taking anything away from his feelings for Imarti. She was his first love, and her tragic death immortalized her in a way that will never quite set him free. I am not sure if they are going to show him reconcile his guilt in depth - this is something that widows/widowers struggle with in real life when moving on with a new spouse so I do hope our show gives it the necessary time and space. It's not just about HS' growth/journey, it's their journey as husband wife from here on whether they do indeed have a chance to be each other's sukh dukh ke saathi.

There was another show many years ago that explored these themes of guilt about moving on with a new spouse, how a person reconciles loving both late and current spouses and how they view the world once they reach that point of equilibrium, but I expect this show can take it to a whole new level. I know people keep saying this is Babita's journey but I think it's also his journey towards redemption and setting himself free of many of his demons of the past. His issues with his mother's death and abusive father are also yet to be explored.

I also feel that he's struggling to understand how he could love another woman with all he has, especially one so different from Imarti, when he had previously thought that you could love like that only once in life. Babita and Minnie surprise him and they make him reevaluate his life and his decisions, challenge his thought process indirectly in ways no one probably has. As we have said previously on the forum Babita needs to reach that point where she can step up and be the support that he needs and I think once he feels she is ready to be more a giver he will open up slowly. He does not expresses his emotions so easily in the sense that he knows and talks about what they are but not how they are.

I do hope to see more of your posts here!

I am not sure about everyone else and their judgement of babita but for me it’s not been about expecting her to be a certain way because she’s a woman, it’s about how she was not shown to have all of these qualities that they’re now highlighting. When the show started she was shown as this quiet, perfectly old school woman who endured and put everyone’s happiness before her own. For me it’s the fault of the writers in making her character inconsistent, cos ppl just don’t go from 0-100 that quick, and then have a friend come on and say she’s always been this way. Ofc women can have anger issues and be imperfect, no1 in this world is perfect. It’s the writers that created an initial “perfect” impression of her- this is something we used to actually discuss at the start of the show actually and many ppl called her dumb etc because she just did as she was told like some sort of robot. Ofc she’s flawed, everyone is but she was initially shown to be really different and selfless so it’s taken some getting used to seeing her be selfish (esp with mini) and them say she’s always been this way.

For me it’s not having a different expectation for a man v woman. I don’t personally believe there’s a difference between the two (apart from physical traits) to have different expectations

Ha ha. Welcome to Binge-watching club. I saw your siggies and I understood, we are on same page. I also recently finished watching show in it's entirety. In awe of writers and the world they have created. So refreshing on Indian TV. *touchwood*

HS is not perfect. His imperfections are also adorable though. But he is what we can get as nearly perfect in aspect of being a feminist male lead that I have seen. His views and opinions about Women empowerment and independence is so refreshing and thought provoking. He believes in equality and truly follows. His actions reflect them so sincerely.

And, I agree with everything that you have said.

Mini wearing a once worn dress and Babita being ok is not a huge deal to me. In fact it's a great aspect of Mini's personality that in-spite of being from this materialistic generation she is so simple. I see that as Babita's win. Great upbringing.

Babes has confused her ego as self-respect in previous episodes too. But it has never gone out of line. She retracted and corrected herself. Even now in Jhumka apology scene, it was her fears more than her ego. A single episode didn't make sense but entire track did. I don't see a writing fault when I watch the whole thing in context.

Completely in agreement with you here .. I am still in the middle of my slow paced binge watching so won't be able to comment on Arc developments here ..

But my overall 2 cents are all the characters shown especially the principal ones are flawed characters. Neither of them are mahaan/perfect in any way ..

Sometimes we just get so blinded in our for love for a character/actor that we start seeing more flaws in other characters/actors ..

If we see the differences in these characters portrayed .. Minnie/HS are expressive - very obvious in the way they showcase their expressions, move their hand, smile/cry hence we find them portraying loads of emotions .. Whereas, Babita is extremely subtle in showcasing her emotions .. That is her character .. someone who bottles up her emotions inside and only lets it out in the most subdued manner .. This is very hard !!

As far as character growth is concerned .. Hanuman has come a long way already (still has a long way to cover) .. But Babita is just starting out .. and she will need all that love & support to become more confident .. It takes a lot of effort to become more confident and take decisions independently .. We have seen her rise up to defend but that frequency will also increase with time .. We don't grow to be confident overnight ..

Minnie is a duck .. calm above the water but constantly juggling underneath ..

Not the best person to articulate like you guys .. but loved how you wrote and peeled off their layers..
