The characters, the story, acting was class apart.
Many of us did not go in to the nuances of the serial in so much depth that time, neither appreciated it but now seeing the rubbish they are showing on TV, u realise that how much depth kzk had.
Second that !! Back in 2002/2003, to think of a storyline where the leads are unapologetic of having pre-marital sex and not needing to justify that with any kind of 'dhaaga' marriage, discussing the options of Abortion, time and again I have mentioned that even in 2019, KZK first 4 yrs look far more mature than any other show. It was the only show where the female lead used to go to office as full time job (and not to save sasural when they are in trouble) and had a career, used to be part of office politics rather than petty kitchen politics (not demeaning kitchen stuffs lol, but I would prefer the first one than the later lol). Both love stories were built with care, and the individual characters too. Not even going to discuss Prerna, even Anurag was the kind of lead whom you could relate to a great extent. May be I am old school😆, but honestly this OTT display of aggression, obsession etc don't work on me anymore. 😵 The way they showed Anurag as a helpless guy who was supposed to be taking care of father's business, had to leave college and studies in between to take care of family business when his father met with accident, and succumbed to family demand and genuinely cared for Komolika, fought for her rights when Komo started rebelling (read revealing 😆) by wearing modern dresses at puja etc, and then his unconditional, in no twisted way of HEARTFELT apology when he found out about Prem, the way he dealt with the curses Moloy gave to him knowing what he did to Prerna, and finally when he went to ask for her hand, it was so so beautiful. I still remember his lines on Prem1's revelation 'Jis kisi bhi drishtikone se dekhta hoon, apne aap ko doshi paata hoon'. 👍🏼 You cannot possibly not feel for that man whose only fault was he was a pushover. At every step he asked for Prerna's consent, be it when Mohini slapped her and still he wanted to go ahead with the marriage only if she agrees or be it when he finally came out of his marriage with Komo. He never took Prerna for granted, never imposed his thoughts on her, never came up with assumptions from her side. Rishabh Bajaj on the other hand, my my, his characterization was THE BEST back then. ☺️ We didn't have such character on Tele back then. I dont have to re-iterate how fresh it was. His was the most carefully written and worked on character which showed maximum growth and someone who went through every shade of black or white.
Sorry for my rant, but since this season they are still handling Bajaj very nicely, I don't have complaints on Bajaj, but I have huge huge complaints on Anurag and AP. Is it the new generation? Am I too old already? Why can't I understand this OTT crap? 4 din ki chaandni is being portrayed as having such deep impact on the leads that they are losing their minds over it ? Prerna shifting to Basu house is same crazy crap as to what Anurag is doing right now ! This love doesn't even make sense to me. When did it become so deep amidst kidnapping, hospital, shaadi mandaps and gunpoints ? The masterstroke in S1 was to establish Anurag-Prerna's deep understanding and bonding THROUGH Anu-Komo marriage and PRB marriage, they really felt like tracks of trains who were walking in parallel, but never together. They GREW into the relationship together and they grew individually too. Those tracks were not used to show the love of the leads for each other, but to establish that itself, to show the fact that despite being married to a 3rd party, how 2 people can continue to bond from heart and be connected to a deep bonding that's far beyond worldly words........ But yahaan toh............ Accident hi ho gaya Train ka by God. Not walking parallel at all, colliding, clashing all the time and still not sure if they love each other or not.
