In all walks of life, women are often pitted against each other and even believed that they pull each other down, The same goes on within the Bollywood industry where female actors are always set in comparison to other female leads. And, recently, global star Priyanka Chopra was present at Beautycon in Los Angeles, where she was questioned regarding the same subject.

As per a report in E Online, PeeCee said that she is often quizzed whether she gets along with her women co-stars. She believes the lack of opportunities for women is the germ behind the "cat fight" narrative and while there is a perception that women try to pull each other down, the men are assumed to have a "bromance" with fellow male stars.

"I've had so many times where I'm doing interviews and people always ask me, 'You're doing a movie with a woman actor. Did you guys get along? Were there cat fights?' But when it comes to boys, they say, 'Oh, my gosh. That's a bromance, and everyone works so well," Priyanka said at Beautycon Los Angeles.

She further added, "I feel like, over time, because women had the lack of opportunities, we were pitted against each other. Because there were only five places a woman could be hired and so we were elbowing each other out to get to that one spot.”

The Desi Girl further stated that she believes in order to change this perception, women in power need to support other women. "The more opportunity we create for each other, the more sisterhood will grow," she shared.

"We're 50 percent of the world population, we need to be represented in every field. We need to be empowered by each other, by people who are in positions of power, by putting (women) in positions of power. I realized many, many years ago, the more I champion women in my own small way, maybe I'll be able to create a world, around me at least, where women run the show. Because we kinda do it really well," she said.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka will be next seen in Shonali Bose’s The Sky is Pink, which also features Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. The film is slated to hit the screens on

Men may or may not issue such statements but the underlying insecurities are the same. Like the recent blind which said a male actor wanted his solo poster released first because he wanted to prove to the world that he is the hero of the film when it was a multistarrer.

Also if we look at stats, more women have worked together than men, because predominantly it's a male centric industry, so you will easily find many movies with two actresses but very few movies with two male actors with equal standing. So it is pure arithemetic at play, you pit actresses against each other in a film more often, the frequency of these "catfights" also increases.

Bottomline, it all boils down to patriarchy, male dominance and misogyny.

but sat quietly when a woman's mic was snatched away from her and her basic freedom of speech was not given to her..she wasn't even allowed to fully say what she intended to..and then you kept saying don't yell don't yell when her mic was even snatched away..what could she do to make her point come across..

women have fought a long way to make their voices heard and you sat quietly when the same woman was not allowed to voice her opinion..for which several women have fought so much..just coz she had a diff opinion than yours..

so cut your crap and hypocrisy for which you have been exposed already..one of the fakest celebs around!
