However, if the comparison is between Sridevi an actress and Madhuri an actress, then Sridevi by miles... Intense or lighthearted, nobody can hold a candle to Sridevi's versatility. She is what one can call a complete actress...

Madhuri could and did, and, unlike Sri, actually was very convincing in action scenes. This is not to say that I dislike Sridevi. I'm just not a big fan of some of her overacting, though I understanding it was part of the dominant conventions of the time and place.

Madhuri didn’t have any versatility in her career. She starred mostly in musical and most her roles are forgettable apart from her dance numbers.

She starred in almost every film genre in existence, with the exception of S-F. And to be accurate, none of her films were musicals (which, incidentally, is a pity). She's considered a fabulous dancer precisely because of her acting in those dance numbers you seem so keen to belittle. And she gave fabulous performances in many films, showing a wide range of emotions, determination to play risky roles and support non-commercial filmmakers too, and a welcome restraint when restraint was, sadly, not in fashion in Indian cinema. Cases in point: Anjaam, Dil, Beta, Pukar, Prem Pratigyaa, Ram Lakhan, Mrityu Dand, Tezaab, Parinda, Prahaar, Zindagi Ek Juaa, Sangeet, Khal Nayak, Devdas, Lajja, Aaja Nachle, Dedh Ishqiya. All in all, one can like or dislike actors, but that is not reason enough to spout nonsense.

Yes, absolutely, and her comedic timing is, again, subtler than the BW norm, hence tends to be underappreciated... in some quarters.

I found her comedy mind blowing in Yaaraana as well, although it was not a full comedy movie, but she nailed those parts.
