Why do TV actors fail on big screen?

There are so many TV actors who tried a hand on big screen and barring a few, most of them failed big time. Be it Gurmeet Choudhary, Barun Sobti, Karan Wahi, KSG etc. On top of that, these are top listed actors of TV industry. Keeping SRK out, I think Sushant is the only TV actor who is still relevant. Rajeev Khandelwal drew accolades for his performance in his debut movie but let's admit, he too didn't leave any note worthy impression and yeah I do know his movie, Pranaam, is coming out but we still need to see it's fate. Ronit Roy is doing well for himself these days but he still gets to play a villian or a second lead or a supporting actor. But then he actually started his career on big screen and when couldn't make any impression, he switched to TV and the rest is history.

From females, I only know of Mouni Roy and Mrunal at present and I'm not sure if they would be relevant in a few years or not, it's too soon to judge. Prachi Desai started off well but she seems to have disappeared too. Same could be said about Gracy Singh.

So why do these TV actors fail to make an impression on big screen even when they enjoy quite a big fan following on TV. Discuss.

They get hyped for no reason. When they go out of their serial character aka comfort zone to work on bigger platform. They fail miserably.

Reason - you need bigger talent for working on big platforms.

We are used to watching them on TV for free. TV actors are known for and by characters they play, most people don't know their full name, this is the only reason I could think of

As if Bollywood actors actresses are very talented. At least, TV actors actresses are more talented than some current nepo kids like Sonam, Alia, Sara, Arjun, Tiger, Jhanvi, Ananya, Shradda, etc. Even many outsiders kept getting work without having lot of talents. If Ash, Kat, Jacqueline and Sidharth can get work in Bollywood without knowing any acting, then what is the problem with TV actors actresses?

Lack of proper commercial debut launch to begin with and also there is a stereotype that TV actors cant become big Bolly stars... difficult to fight against that stereotype...

Vikrant Massey is also from tv. Even Ayushmann Khurana. Irrfan Khan too.

The thing is, popularity on tv is tied to the characters you play. Any love story that has a main ship automatically gets fans invested in the actors. It is no measure of their actual ability. Bollywood needs actual talent. People like Mrunal or Vikrant or Ayushmann were never "big" on tv, but they have the skills needed to crack auditions. They were always critically acclaimed. Also, they have a natural, grounded style which is needed for the movies and is rare on tv.

Ayushman was a VJ/Anchor not an actor...and Massey and Mrunal had supporting roles to play not famous lead roles....
