I thought it was the Indian Medical Association. That's not Deepik'as Foundation.

she is right, they made a big hungama without even listening to the other side. In fact another movie Paagal was releasing, Badshah released a song called paagal.

It looked like a deliberate target , now when its revealed that this movie deals with the stigma with how society looks at mentally ill people and tries to show the judgemental side of society .

Not one tweet of appreciation from the TLL and Mental health org.

Many doctors have appreciated the movie.

dp vs kr happening it seems lol , y dp foundation targeted kr movie ?

No it doesn’t.

I understand why she made the film, it blames others for her character’s pathology and uses that pathology to excuse her behavior. I completely understand what it does for Kangana. I don’t understand how anyone thinks it does anything good for mental illness.

It reinforces the stereotype that “someone” or “something” is to blame for psychosis. Bad parents, bad family, bad married lover, etc. when this is absolutely positively not true for the vast majority of real psychotic patients. The last thing parents of a psychotic child need is being tortured by the idea they might have prevented it had they parented better or misinformed people trying to figure out what they did to “make” their child “mental”.

It reinforces the stereotype that the mentally ill are physically violent and prone to criminal behavior. Most mental ill people are not.

It reinforces the idea that treatment isn’t needed and should be avoided. Who needs meds when mental illness is just entertaining quirky individuality?

It chooses an exceedingly rare illness DID and then, inexplicably in the age of Google, gets it entirely wrong. No one asked them to make a movie about mental illness. The very least they could have done was a tiny bit of fact checking.

This is a dangerous movie if its trying to skew the the whole paradigm of mental illness. I'm not surprised that Ekta Kapoor was involved in this too. I cant believe what kind of Mental Health Association cleared this movie for screening with just a title change. The people who did so....their licences ought to be revoked.

From the two articles you've posted here, I gather that it doesnt educate the people in any way...which is what it should've set out to do ideally...and instead its censuring, nay indicting the "normal" people....the family, friends who are the real sufferers.
