Hey wait....but how?

Hi everyone....i was just rereading a part from Order of the phoenix...i think i spotted a blooper

as far as i believe, one can see thestrals if you've seen somebody die...

harry was only able to see thestrals after he saw cedric die, but he saw his mother die right in front of him..

wat if he was little, he still saw his mother's death so he should be able to see thestrals from the very start..right?

please sum1 tell me if i'm wrong, or give a valid answer

What is meant by seeing death is actually understanding the tragedy called Death...U have gotta understand that u have seen death not just see it without making sense of what happened...Harry didnt realise that his mother was being murdered. He thought it was joke of his dad's and after that the whole place got blown up and the next thing he knew was dat he was in Private Drive.
He didnt remember his mom and dad and dint understand that he had seen death...
On the other hand, when he witnessed Cedric Die, he understood that he was seeing someone die...he felt the pain of death and thats why he was able to see Thestrals only after his fourth yr adventures...

hey..gud point n u r right..yes..he was a baby wen his ma died so he dint feel the pain but in triwizard tournament he had grown close to cedric n we he died,right in front of harry's eyes..it was painful..so he cud see thestrals..

i thought this sighting of thestrals is very theoratical....not when they actually realise the meaning..
