^^ double figure on 2nd Friday wow it’s really crazy
Wow, my first Hindi film of the year :p ..should I give a ~*~spoiler alert ~*~ ?
Hmm so, I can't say I liked it, can't say I disliked it either. My ma wanted to walk out 15 minutes into the film :p ...but I never felt bored despite it's length. Maybe because of Shahid? This film, was about Shahid's performance, although his performance didn't really match my very high hopes about him, or maybe it simply is the character he plays. Nonetheless, poor guy lived the character, one of the memorable performances in my small list of Hindi films, and towards the end I felt sad and emotional for him both the character and the actor - somehow I thought of his break-up with Kareena ..surely, he must've found inspiration or re-lived a few moments from his own personal life..
Coming to misogyny and toxic masculinity, either I don't understand those terms and phrases as per their changing definitions or I didn't see it. The character of Kabir Singh felt like a very temperamental impulsive man who is blinded by his own mind/ego that ultimately leads him to the path of self-destruction. As the film progresses, you feel pity for him, violently trapped inside in his own head, and he is just sad.. sad that he isn't with the woman he loves and who loves him.. His way of dealing with sadness is far from healthy on all levels, but it's still sad.. Shahid's acting was great, though, something that I can't put my finger on, let me down a little..
I just hope his acting is acknowledged and praised..
And coming to the duo, I think Preethi and Kabir have some sort of cozy silent love, let's not go into dynamics of the couple for what I understood is that they just love each other, and you can never understand dynamics of any couple entirely - can only make assumptions, so it's useless to go into their dynamics especially of one in a film :p BUT, I wish the director had given us a peek into them falling in love. IDK how to describe but I felt that was missing, them falling in love..., there was something missing, constantly, even at the end!
I think I liked only one scene between them where Kabir lays down on Preeti's lap and she removes the book and holds up her hands, unsure/unable to touch him just yet.. And, there was another scene where Preeti pays a surprise visit to Kabir at Mussoorie, it was such a lovely scene until Preeti demands a kiss -_-
I liked a dialogue from the film, by dadi "Suffering is very personal, let him suffer"... brought tears to my eyes, there's so much truth in that dialogue.. and it's just sad.
Coming to the beginning.. the college days part of the film felt rather weak, and I didn't really enjoy that part..
And... what else.. I didn't enjoy the soundtrack😔 ..The soundtrack has been stuck in my head since yesterday I don't like it..
The scenes preceding the ending felt emotional, when Kabir admits his misconduct before the board. BTW, is there no mechanism in hospitals that checks practicing surgeons against intoxication, soundness of mind etc etc?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O
The ending was... okay.. was emotionally unsatisfying for me.. 😔 IDK what I am expecting, but I did not feel satisfied..
TLDR - Movie is okay. Watch it for Shahid's performance. Editing is off here and there.

I felt the same way and said that the same thing in my review.
Not sure if you agree, for me I felt that Shahid's character did not get any impact/dramatic scenes. I mean he did have lots of scope and lots of scenes to show his talent. But I felt there needed to be least 2-3 more scenes to properly capture his angst and pain. Even in that scene where he cries with his friend, it wasnt impactful (the way it was shot)...I think what I am saying is that the character needed a few more punch scenes.....sometimes I found the scenes/dialogues to be very surface level.
Like if you look at the movie Sanju, I can think of a couple of scenes where Ranbir has a proper breakdown in which you just feel for wholeheartedly.
Its not so much Shahid's issue - but moreso the director/dialogue/screenplay. Needed more of an impactful punch.
double post ignore
Insane collection, might be 150 cr in 8 days, that too without any etp or holiday 👏
Love how the movie has highlighted other characters and relationship dynamics so amazingly Starting from Dadi to his brother to the maid, every one has played their part so flawlessly that you can actually relate to them so well. It sure has been a remarkable cinematic experience
Kabir Singh Dominates - Article 15 So So

Kabir Singh continues to dominate the box office and is by far the top film this week. The collections will see a limited drop from Thursday and it may well turn out to be one of best Fridays of all time. There are not many films which have seen a double digit Friday and this film could easily get that and more as the evenings will see even more collections.
The new film Article 15 has been left in the shadow of Kabir Singh. The opening is around 10-15% which is actually not bad but the hero has had two back to back films like Badhai Ho and Andhadhun which have done well and on top the media has gone crazy over these films so some goodwill is expected for the hero as well. But box office does not work like that and hit films do not mean your next films open well. The character you play in the film also has to be a hit then maybe it can help the initials of your future films.
The film has opened better than Andhadhun and despite the media hype the film actually does not have much face value and the number that its gets on day one which could go above 3.50 crore nett is not that bad for the film.
The Hollywood horror film Annabelle Comes Home opened on Thursday and collected around 3 crore nett and it should do a little better on Friday.
