What's going on with HUM TV?

It's kind of becoming a concern. Not a single show tops anymore for the channel. Jaal is the only show that's topping Fridays at 9PM slot and that's because GEO and ARY don't really have anything important on-air. MeerAbru got only 1.7-2 TRP which is low despite the show being good in my opinion, while ZaheNaseeb only got 3.9 avg. on the 1st episode and was slaughtered by Yaariyan which got 6+ trps. Khaas can't even go above the 2 mark. Inkaar is basically a failure, no one's watching on TV. I live in America where HUM World is pretty popular and everyone watches it here. Anyone have an idea of what happened to the channel all of a sudden, it went from a strong contender to something channel's dont even worry about despite having such good shows like Khaas, MeerAbru, Jaal, etc.

One of the reasons why I feel Hum Tv is nto doing well is Sarah Khan, I sued to like her a lot before as an actress, I still like her offscreen as a person, but her selection of characetrs whioch she portrtays is really regressive, there are more reasons, but in every serial she is portraying the same character and she is doing Hum Tv Serials recently

Her character Suboohi and Wardah are almost the same, not standing up for oneself, always tolerating terrible behvaiour by her onscreen husband, her characters are usually really quiet spectators that never take any stand

Just after marriage, she is going through issue,s but the way her characters react is not written well and her character selection is also not good anymore

I think that we have 2 different types of audience , one is after social issue dramas, this one go to ARY. The other type is family drama TRP aunties which find their typical Indian falvour complicated family dramas in GEO. Hum is somewhat between. It has some thought provoking dramas such as Khaas, Inkaar.. some period dramas: Deeware Shab and Aangan, Love-hate -love stories like : Anaa , Meer Abroo which are targets of youths, not TRP aunties.

My favourite Hum Tv Dramas are from 2011-2016 which includes Maat, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Shanakth, Udaari, Tumhari Natasha, Tanhai, De Ijazat Jo Tu

One thing I have noticed is that, Sohai Ali Abro's serials were actually really refreshing and she always played strong roles, I always enjoyed watching her serials, she always played happy roles and was always an independent girl , she also looked good with every coactor especially Azfar, Sohai and Azfar are still my favourite couple along with Farhan and Iqra in recent times❤️

I have never seen Sohai playing roles that involve kitchen politics or anything like that, she played a businesswoman's role in De Ijazat after her husband passed away

Then in Tumhari Natasha, how she goes all the way to Dubai to meet the person she used to like in College or University, that wa salso something new to see

But, my favourite character of her was in Tanhai where she got married at a young age and it reminded me of Kausati whereBajaj marries Prerna only to take care his kids , so it was similar, but more realistic and Sohai bodns well with his kids

All this used to be fun to watch, but now it is only showing what every other serial is showing, so I guess that is why Hum Tv is not doing well as they are reusing old concept from previous shows

I do agree with this, I think if the TRP system shows the ENTIRE audience and not just female audience, I think GEO is probably at the bottom. Cause it's beyond me how Anaa gets 2+ million views but is getting 1.6 avg?
HUM is best for me, it's been my favorite for years. Then ARY. GEO, only Yaariyan and Shahrukh Ki Saliyan are good. The rest are basically a time waste.

I honestly don't know anything about the TRPs of these channels but one thing I'm certain about is that it is only HUM TV's shows which have had the most global impact in recent times be it Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Dastaan, etc.

I've always watched only HUM's shows and I am a fan of the channel. The only time I tried experimenting was with Yusuf Zulekha which I thought was a horrible show despite having a fantastic lead pair.

I still can't believe though that Anaa, which has millions of views on YouTube has low TRPs. smiley3 Maybe it's because the foreign audience is liking it much more as compared to the domestic one?

Khaas is the biggest shocker for me because I think Anaa is a poorly written show. Khaas has a great cast, great acting and a relevant plot. This is the best show for me right now.

I think another thing that ARY has started doing that is working for it is the double episodes. The dramas might be depressing and not that good but they're moving faster and I think that keeps people interested. Geo was doing that for some of it's dramas during Ramadan too.

I agree. airing double episodes proved to be an intellegant move by ARY, it even got her good TRPs at 9:00 pm slot as well in some days.

TRPs can be skewed too. I take them with a grain of salt especially since the method used isn't the best.

I haven't been to a single home here that has ever turned on ARY or Geo in favour of Hum nowadays. Almost everyone was watching Anaa or Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. Of course, keep in mind that people who may appreciate the atypical dramas are the younger lot and we prefer going to Youtube on our free time and watching it then. Its almost every weekend that I walk into our common room and people were watching Suno chanda, RRK or Anaa an hour or so after they aired on TV.

Considering that, if we're measuring how popular a show is based on just views, then channels should maybe take into account YT views.
