well consider this..One guy goes blowing up all de ppl round him..he is deadly skilled in dat...But does that make a "good wizard" or a "better wizard" and "a more skilled wizard" which ever way u put it?
I don't believe so.
'Its not our abilities alone which decide what we truly are, it is our choices.'
Tom Riddle was a highly skilled Wizard. That goes without saying. But the skill of a wizard is not gaged simply by him screaming deadly curse[s]--Avada Kedavra alone seems to be Riddle's weapon...
There are many kinds of magic. Riddle's inability to understand those finer kinds of Magic and his complacency pisses me off absolutely. 😆 He had brains, he explored many kinds of magic, and pushed many beyond the existing boundaries. But there it is "Of some kinds of magic". Of others, he remained terribly ignorant.
And that kind of magic---Love, Sacrifice, acceptance, friendship, Innocence etc etc---he didnt even give a damn to explore those greater kinds of magic and therein lies his greatest flaw.
And at the end of the day..I have to say that most readers really felt Riddle to be a highly skilled Wizard mainly coz of the fear he seemed to evoke in all the characters...all this 'You Know Who' and 'He who must not be named' crap seems to have intimidated even readers😆
Otherwise, if u really think over the entire tide of things and look at all the idiocies he committed, u will have to come to a conclusion that he was one pumpkin headed stupid git...
Just bcoz he screams out "I am the best", he neednt be the best.
His methods are damn stupid..I am far more evily intelligent, If U allow me a small immodesty!😆😉
But at the same time, I have to agree, he makes a terrific villain, howmuchever stupid he may be, His hollow humorless laugh is no doubt effective!
Dumbledore, on he other hand is that perfect omniscient Nice, sweet, affable kind of Grandad character. He is to Harry Potter, what Gandalf is to The Lord of the Rings.
I will bore you if I start listing out his great and unique abilities n all..so In a nutshell I will just say that, to the depth which he has understood witchcraft and wizardry, Human Emotions and vulnerabilities, about the purity and strength of those subtler qualities like Love and friendship etc etc, No other sane man has. (though if u think abt it..Dumbledore isnt really that 'Sane'!) 😆
He understood and observed what no one did, he stood for The Right of Muggle Borns, He was the one who patronized the cause of welfare among all men and magical creatures and among magical and non mangical ppl, He was the pne who fought Voldmeort from the beginning, faced a lot of flak at a time, but didnt mind whatever they did to him as long as they didnt remove him from Chocolate Frogs, and at the end of the day made Voldemort play right into his hands. He may have had to give his own life for that cause, But it was for the 'greater Good' afterall!

though i feel sad in accepting it was voldy...he was eviL
Actually, he died bcoz his emotions of Love and sorrow overpowered him. He behaved as naturally as any person who can feel will.
The word 'Temptation' doesnt suit that context well, in my opinion.
He was 'tempted' by the Hallows in his youth. He got over it paying a terrible price, something for which he could never forgive himself.
so somewhere down the lane, he was a weak child like person...
But if possessing the ability to feel sorry and allowing you heart to get the better of ur mind is being 'tempted away', I wud any day be weak that strong! 😆 --I am for that matter...
as for never trusting himself with power, as I said above...He was still a lil' boy in his heart who couldnt forgive himself for a terrible wrong he had done and wished never to do it again and refused to give himself a chance. The man who gave everyone else a second Chance didnt apparently think himself worthy of that. But Human afteralll...
And a Great wizard neednt be power hungry.
Only a Great Man can make a Great Wizard.
