Nepotism is unfair but it has prevailed in Bollywood since ages. I know many non deserving people get unfair chances but in end talent does matter. And all those outsiders who are now against nepotism, will they not try to take advantage of their own connections when it will come to their own kids?

Having said that I absolutely dislike KJo and his blatant unfair ways but hating on every star kid is going overboard.

Yes its gone too far in my opinion

People talk about Irrfan, Nawaz, SSR and the likes but they are not talking about how many potential actors tried out of which these selective few have emerged as winners

same applies to the star kids as well

out of 1000 aspiring outsiders, 50 make it

out of 100 star kids 80 make it

when I say Make it, i mean they get an opportunity to come on screen and at least get a chance to showcase what they have or not have.

That's where the nepotism debate kicks in.

This is where I feel a strong need for auditions. Yes of course a producer will launch his son/daughter putting his money, that's completely understandable and ok

But the likes of KJO and Salman, who just launch these kids only and only coz they are insiders , that's kind of unfair. I do understand if KJO launches his kids , he has the money to put in, that's fine but to launch every other kid whose only credential is that he/she is a star kid is unfair.

The debate has actually been distorted...but since you believe it hasn't gone far enough...then where do you want it to go...? Because nothing is changing in terms of the way the industry actually works. All I see these days is anyone with a family connection being brutally bashed on social media for trivial nonreasons. Don't see the what is actually being achieved.

Not more brutally than most outsiders' careers, though, so... cry me a river. It's actually great that the talentless nepokids and their mediocre godpapas are bashed. I mean, we're not deluded here: nepotism has existed in Bollywood for generations, but there's a difference between a nepo-kid surviving on talent and a nepo-kid whose only talent is PR stunts and followers on social media.

Where do I want "it" to go? Towards a healthier industry - how about that? Like MoonOrchid said , fair auditions would be a great starting point. A well-oiled talent-scouting system in place of nepotism - how about this terrible idea? Teaching people how to act, how to write, how to produce? Demanding something more than just family connections, blind loyalty or sexual favours? Sounds good enough? Not too brutal?

if the debate is getting out of hand its all because of Media, kangana raised a valid point and that's about it..but when media saw what an outrage that episode caused, it left no stone unturned to milk every controversy around the same thing. After that episode, every goddamn actor in bollywood was asked the question of nepotism. then the social media trolling and everything that comes with it is all part of that. Now it has reached a state where even outsiders don't want to speak about it due to the fear of upsetting big wigs in bollywood. Media is such a powerful platform, you can't just pick one, its everywhere..u can't blame one source, it spreads one thing to another...
