Redux and Original Timeline?

So I stopped watching when the redux happened (it seemed too fan-fictiony to me, I couldn't!). But I wanted to know - did they ever go back to the original timeline? The original story? Or did the leap with the kids and O&R hating Shivaay happen still in the "redux" timeline?

Gul had already decided to take the generation leap when she decided to create the Redux. My guess is she wanted the opportunity to go back to the original story later, perhaps as part of a sequel, like she did with Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon.

Not sure this will happen now (on TV at least); friends who work in the entertainment industry in India seem to think IB was only possible in terms of budget because Surbhi wasn't billed as a lead (she was used like one in promos etc but wasn't paid or had the screen time of one). They all expect her next role to be a lead; so if that happens she'll become too expensive.

It's a shame. I would have preferred a proper ending to the original story. Even if it was an epic romantic death scene.

The moment everything came back to Shivika and other pairs uniting and becoming one happy family, both the original and redux became united and it is the real progression from there on. So yes, they are the kids of real people in real world only!

@bold...the way HS has written the death sequence for Shivika in the leap last episodes, I have no words ... its not about death..its about how she killed them... their ending even if its death, was undeserving not only to the characters but also to the fans...😭

There were 1000 different ways she could have written killing of Shivika that would give fitting end to their characters ...I never expected this from HS 😡

in reality makers wanted to start new story for Shivika as they were not able to continue the story in RU...

and I think midway in redux they wanted to do leap bcoz there were rumours of show going off air after the FM and writers wrote the redemption of Shivaay in a FF mode..like immediate...and I felt it kind of forceful...Shivaay trying to gain maafi for his deeds ...it looked zabardasti...

and I think if leap didn't happen may be they thought of going back to RU ...

redux also they didnt plan or executed properly...if it wasnt for NM SC...it would have flopped even before...they acted so well to make shitty story or idea also watchable...

No doubt that characters of SSO and Annika were written so well in the beginning but its NM and SC that gave these characters that life...and then their magical chemistry did wonders to the scenes...

writers and PH forgot about this fact and went ahead with leap...they should have had better story line and better cast to atleast do justice to the leap...thats the reason leap failed...bcoz story anyways went down the drains for IB even before leap started...but what kept the ship floating was the Shivika and NM-SC chemistry...the moment that has been taken away from IB, it came to its closure...

Agreed but I also think IB only worked because of Surbhi. Annika existed purely to highlight the dark and light parts of Shivaay. As a character she was very poorly written (probably the worst written character on the show; even the writers began to forget things about Annika after a while in the OU). But Surbhi brought her to life completely which is what a good actor brings to the table.

Conversely I am probably one of the very few who believe that Omkara was written the best out of all the characters at the beginning, and that suggests he was probably meant to be the main hero (eventually). But Kunal was never able to deliver Omkara like Nakuul was with the much more poorly written Shivaay; which is why the latter became the lead.

An actor's performance should be expected to overcome poor writing, especially in Indian soap operas where that is basically the way of life.
