Priya Ahuja plays Mahek in the serial Zaara -- Pyaar ki Saugat and she's enjoying it to the hilt.
"I could identify with the role as I myself am a Punjabi," says the girl, who's been in the industry for a year now. She was offered the role of Khushi in the same serial but she chose Mahek's role because it was close to her heart.
Earlier she played a negative character in Kumkum initially which turned positive later on. But when the show went through a time leap she left the show.
"The role of Pam that I played in Kumkum is still my favourite character as I worked on it a lot and made it very likable among the viewers," says Priya. In Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan too, she played negative roles. Ask her, if given a choice, what kind of roles would she prefer and pat comes the reply, "I prefer acting in comedy shows like the way I acted in Aisi ki Taisi and Sabka Bheja Fry. It's so much fun. But as negative roles rule the show, I wouldn't mind taking up something like that as well."
Talking about the big screen, she says she aspires to be a character artiste in films. "I don't think I would be able to carry off lead roles because of my tomboyish nature," she says candidly. Right now, she has two projects in the pipeline — Stoneman and Toss — releasing sometime soon. On the small screen she's hoping to do meatier roles. "I've mostly played parallel leads. Now I hope to take up a lead role in a show. There are some offers and I'm still finalising," she says.
Work apart, what's happening in her personal life? "I'm not single anymore. I'm dating someone from the film industry but he's not an actor," is all she's willing to disclose. Wish you all the luck, gal!
