Gully Boy, which hit the big screen on February 14, is doing well at the box office. It is difficult to imagine this musical drama without the lead actor of the film, Ranveer Singh, as the Bollywood star has played the character of Murad Ahmed precisely, and the outcome of it is the film's successful box office collection. As Ranveer had to completely look like an upcoming rapper in the film, director Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, who co-wrote the screenplay of the film, had to make sure that the actor understands the role properly and gets into the skin of the character.
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Reema Kagti shared her opinion about Ranveer and said that if he would not have portrayed the role of Murad in the film then who would be able to? She said, "I think Zoya Akhtar would've had to shelve Gully Boy if Ranveer Singh said no. Ranveer's rapping skills were appreciated by fans and critics alike and the songs sung by him in the movie have become hits.
