Celebrating Madhuri's comeback to commercial cinema

First I wrote this post in movie review. But I thought, I should make a separate topic, as Madhuri Dixit is not been given her due credit in the success of Total Dhamaal.
What made my family to watch Total Dhamaal?

The trailer gave a vibe; It is a clean, family watchable comedy. Presence of Madhuri looked an extra attraction.

Then this song was released.

Between 00:35 to 1:04 Minute. That's it. It was confirmed that we were going. Reviews did not matter at all.

I still don't get it. Madhuri is still one of those females, whose name (in a commercial movie) can make a man spend money to buy tickets. I bet, young faces like Anushka or Sonam do not have that power.

One can list her previous flops. But can one recall, when was her last commercial/mainstream movie? (Even Aaja Nachle was not a mainstream movie, though it had dance).

Madhuri may a very good actress, but most of her fans are mainstream movie watchers. They won't go for an art movie.
True, they are all grown ups now. They can't visualise her again in a movie like Dil. Nor they prefer to watch another Dhak Dhak with their kids. But they cannot force themselves to watch Dedh Ishquiya or Gulaab Gang either.
Total Dhamaal gave them a perfect opportunity.

Silly movie, silly song. Still, the line "La La La Laa... " is going on and on at home.

Welcome back Madhuri, to your forte.

they should have given her atleast a good solo song
it was such an insult to legendary madhuri to have such crappy songs to dance on

They gave one to Sonakshi and frankly nobody cared for the song during movie.

Another song was came at end credits. Another young girl shared the space with Madhuri. Again nobody bothered to look at that girl.

Yes, Madhuri's songs were at the beginning and end credits. But then, putting a solo song on her would not have done justice to the movie, as all characters were equal.
I said somewhere before. Anil-Madhuri need a separate movie for themselves. But in this movie, their role could not have been stretched anymore.

Yes, it's great to see her finally getting her well deserved superhit after long.
Her role seems good and viewers and critics have greatly praised her.

Just wish she and her contemporaries get such regular films and not only those special or offbeat types.

^^ I'd rather see her in some rom-com or massy movie than nothing at all.😊 And yeah it's great she is getting a hit- she deserves that.

Also: she and Anil make such great pair.. hope they do another movie together.. and soon !

Exactly stretching Madhuri's part would have been unfair to other characters. I am glad the audiences wanted to see more of her rather than saying they were bored of Anil madhuri part because it was dragged.

It is great to see older actresses getting roles. After badhai ho success I want some movies which revolve around mature couple where Anil-Madhuri can play significant roles.

commercial comedy is great start.

Im going to watch this movie for Anil Madhuri pairing only
Even the director Indra Kumar is their old director who had made Beta, he also directed Madz in Dil, Raja etc
No wonder the film is doing so well, nostalgia factor works bigtime nowadays
Other filmmakers shd take notice of this and bring back popular pairs from 80s and 90s, it will be guaranteed success
