She isn't Maharashtrian by any stretch.

There are people who are proper Maharashtrian who have worked enough and achieved enough.

Why do they need bw celebs for this?

Yea, I know what you mean ..me and few of my colleagues were also invited for the ceremony when my studio won Oscars for life of pi... But it was honouring us for being part of Oscar winning team... The main people honoured were from different walks of life ...but yea we were all maharashtrians...

I guess they were selected through public voting...

I don't think she could've refused, it would look haughty to refuse such Honor, esp if the government is involved...

What we received was ma.ta.sanman ... This one was lokmat... So different awards... my bad...

In our Case, the co-ordinator had asked to send few Marathi artist as representatives...

Don't know the honour criteria for this awards...
