Hello everyone,

This is my first post in this forum but I have been following this forum since forever.

I have watched very few episodes of silsila.. Mainly because the concept itself made me feel that I'm going to be emotionally connected(take it as drained) and I can't handle it during the EMA phase.. But even now, just reading all the posts, makes me go crazy.

I always discuss the lives of these three people with my friends and we got to know a lot about each other in this process!

Generally, best friends discuss all stupids things and we being no different, used to discuss anything and everything whenever we got the time to. But this serial made us discuss the topic which is not something people talk about in general (at least where I stay). This made me realize that we have started to get to know each other much better.. We discuss almost every episode and the feel that we all are in this together, made me close to my friends all over again! If it wasn't for Silsila, we wouldn't have discussed many mature topics especially like EMA, our take on it, our take on betrayal and all. I have always known that they are friends for life, but these discussions have made me open much more about myself and increased the trust to completely next levels.

I really don't know why am I making this post at this point of time.. But looking at people discuss about the pre leap, post leap, use of ML and all, I just thought I should share the use of a serial called Silsila.

I have seen everyone going mad about Gajra's take on EMA, but honestly, most of the girls like me have actually understood themselves better by thinking deep about such issues. No matter whether the show is success or not, right or wrong, but it surely is a good start.. Especially, away from the serials where people just discuss about the lovey dovey moments(no offense, even I love such shows), we got to discuss some real issues here. Not even just EMA, but the physical and emotional abuse people have to go through!

Lastly, Thank you for reading my post! 😳

Yes I suppose for younger single people silsila is an eye opener . Not all marriages are great. And even if you marry the man of your dreams who loves you ...he can still change, and fall in love with somebody else and leave you with a whole lot of heartache. Marriage does not come with a guarantee that it's going to last xx years ...I always say that marriage is like a gamble ...you don't know if its going to be a winner or loser.. But ,yes if people are committed to each other , love each other, respect and value their marriage vows of being honest, faithful ...that marriage will last..😊

Pranu, I am so glad to know how this show helped you.
For me, I loved character Mauli, who is just a normal appearing girl, who is strong from inside out, who is all action, less talk. The sensitivity, the commitment, her work ethic, her selfless giving, her dependability are amazing. She doesn't flaunt any of these qualities, but yet people around her ( read Ishaan, dida and Radhika ) cherish her and know what an asset she is in their lives. She doesn't try to be intentionally heroic or call upon any attention to herself, she just does her duty. Nothing like " hum yeh kiya, hum woh kiya" etc., she simply moves on to her next task. She moulds herself effortlessly into her different roles with different people, from being a supportive, loving, wife, to a lovable, dependable DIL/daughter, to a sensitive employer to Promila, to an empathetic doctor, to a chivalrous and courageous person who doesn't take crap, to a gallant, giving friend. The only two aspects of her which haven't yet evolved completely is that of a mother who would do anything for her child and a caring partner for Ishaan. I know of a person in my life, my mentor, who is just like her. Mauli to me is not fictional, she is as real as she gets. She takes life as it comes and responds and reacts with strength and conviction.

I am so glad, my friend, that this show hasn't turned you off from friends. Barring a few bad apples, like Nandini, most friends are dependable. On the same token, I won't lose hope on a good marriage and forever doubt the partner either. I know EMAs happen, but not in marriages where both parties are invested into each other and working hard to make a life together. I won't say anything more than this.

I love the three ladies, these people give me so much hope. Dida, Radhika and Mauli, I simply can't get over the scene, 😭all three of them hugging each other and crying, each of them crumbling, but still stand up as a stake for the other two, when Kunal abandons each and every one of them in search of his joy in life. They stood like pillars to each other, each contributing in their own way to let the other two lead a sane life. Again, this is real life, most of the time, not that saas-bahu crime saaga. I am not discounting the real scary stories or the minor frictions people have, but you know what I am saying.

Finally, for me, being able to articulate meant that I needed to have clear cut thought process, bringing together not only my sensibilities but also my real life experiences, my outlook on life and relatabliity to life in general. I found myself often putting myself in the spot and asking, if Mauli were my sister, what would I want for her? It helped me immensely to solidify and consolidate my thoughts. It is heartwarming to find people here who discussed all of this with passion, clarity and how they put their thoughts across. Not only people who thought like me but vice versa too.

Anyway, I got too emotional as I read this. Have a good weekend ! 😃
People, as the show is winding down, why don't we talk about take home points from the show? What is the good you would take from this show? I hope you don't mind, Pranu.

Absolutely True! There are still many people who think marrying a person gives them all rights on that person and that, they can decide what's right or wrong for them. They even take theire partner for granted.

@bold - exactly! Love, respect, commitment and trust are the pillars for marriage to last long! I feel if a person can't respect me or my views, it's difficult to live with them. No matter how strong a person is, support of loved ones can make us go to next levels!

Thank you for your inputs😳

Hey Mili! Thank you so much for this post! Honestly, I was so happy after reading your post but was lazy to reply. . So had to take some time.

Even I can relate to Mauli. I think unlike other FLs, she is close to reality, especially for working women. . I can easily relate to her, especially her individuality and the focus on her career, yet making sure to take care of her family. I remember people telling me you are a daughter, why to think so much about your parent's finances. It's not that they can't buy things for themselves, it's just that, it
Makes me happy to make my parents feel special. But people think that I do it to show off 😆

Can't change their mindset. Similarly, we can't change a person like kunal who couldn't understand the value of Mauli. I'm not saying that he shouldn't have fallen for nandini, but I'm talking about the things which he said her.

I think even I am getting carried away by the emotions. But like you said, people here are putting themselves in the spot to actually understand the whole fiasco and not just taking it as a fiction, we have learnt a lot from the show.

Even I had a friend who was like this slow poison in my life and thankfully I have realized it at quite an early stage. . With support of these friends, I've become more confident and happy now 😳

Of course I wouldn't mind Mili, coz I really wanna know what others learnt through this journey of Silsila !

Thank you so much for bringing it up!
