Uorfi Javed, known for her experimental style and outspoken nature, recently shared an unfiltered account of her struggles with body image, mental health, and the long-lasting impact of unrealistic beauty standards. Speaking to Anshula Kapoor on the YouTube show Bunkk with Uorfi, the actress reflected on a difficult period in her life when she starved herself to appear thin.
“I developed body dysmorphia 3–4 years ago,” Uorfi admitted. “I was starving. I stopped eating. I just wanted to be this really skinny person — like extremely skinny — so I just stopped eating. I would eat 3–4 chicken pieces a day and not even work out. I would just run.”
Her extreme diet and obsession with weight took a toll on her mental well-being. Uorfi candidly said, “Mentally, I was f**ked. I was always cranky, I was always annoyed. If anyone spoke to me, I would be like, ‘Why are you talking to me?’” She acknowledged how this behaviour was both self-destructive and isolating.
Today, Uorfi says her focus has shifted. “Recently, I have started going to the gym. I’ve started lifting weights. I’ve started eating well. Now I don’t care about being skinny,” she said. Her words reflected a mindset that now prioritises health over appearance.
During the chat, the two also revisited their time on the reality show The Traitors. Anshula recalled Uorfi’s initial resistance to indulging in desserts, followed by a sudden shift. “On the first couple of days, Uorfi would just smell the desserts, but by the third day onwards, she was like, ‘I only want to eat desserts,’” Anshula shared with amusement.
Uorfi, calling it “stress eating,” admitted that the pressure of the show eventually led her to give in to her cravings. Despite the emotional rollercoaster, she emerged as one of the show’s winners, alongside poker player Nikita Luther. Anshula Kapoor was eliminated earlier in the season, during the “Circle of Shaq” round.
By revisiting her past struggles and acknowledging how far she’s come, Uorfi Javed continues to challenge the narrative around beauty, choice, and resilience in the public eye.
