Maybe I had higher expectations from PV, but that movie overall was very lukewarm with khilji represented as a caricature. But to be fair I did feel that due to the controversy the end product wasn't what SLB had in mind.

And I think I had posted in PV thread too that one of my fav or rather only fab khulji scene was when he was standing outside the fort (all night) waiting for padmavati.
I think that was brilliantly portrayed.
. Rest was just a garish caricature

And no I haven't seen simmba, it's not my cup of tea... I really tried to like it but when I saw one of the intvs where Ranveer tried to pull the bechara card by saying sarah got rohit shetty movie while he had to wait 12 years

Dude... you got a YRF debut as a lead while ayshman and rkr had to keep accepting small roles till they are NOW finally being appreciated... but no he had to open his mouth and continue his non existent victimhood...
He should let his work speak for himself without trying to make himself as a rags to riches bechara outsider making it big fake backstory

I haven't seen dabang or singham type movies either. So cricketfan1 would you recommend it to someone who is more of a SLB fan than a rohit shetty one

I didn't think you were a blind hater..😃.For that matter, nobody on this forum is a blind hater...Its just that everybody is pretty reactive of the other people's opinions and they come up with fake dislike for the actors whose fans they disagree with/don't like...:)

@bold: Even I haven't seen Dabbang...watched Singham because of a friend who before that came with me to ZNMD...I just thought I will just doze off and even took my throw along,😆 but to my surprise, I did end up enjoying most of the movie...

Simmba, is a true blue mass masala movie...You will enjoy it if you watch with a crowd...But if you are planning to watch it at home all by yourself, then I don't know, because even I am not sure if I would be able to do that...This is like an event movie, supposed to be watched with a crowd...Ranveer was in his elements- NOT a single moment where he was out of the character or was boring...His acting and the experience of watching it with an exuberant crowd is what has made me love Simmba...:)...I have never seen people dancing in the aisles, whistling(with whistles brought from the homes😆), clapping, cheering, laughing and what not...It was truly one of the best movie watching experiences I have ever had! :)

Maybe I had higher expectations from PV, but that movie overall was very lukewarm with khilji represented as a caricature. But to be fair I did feel that due to the controversy the end product wasn't what SLB had in mind.Khilji was a negative character throughout, but Ranveer had so much fun with even the smallest thing, it is hard not to enjoy his devil-may-care act in this role. IMO. Agreed- I also think the movie was heavily edited and changed due to the Sena. Uff.. We shall never know..now. I think SLB changed tack from the first attack on him onwards..made it more..Rajput chant than it was intended. I SO wish he stood his ground and MADE HIS VISION - even if it meant the movie flopping,... because it would have been a MUCH more interesting movie. People say 'it lacks heart'- well, after so many heavy edits, why are we surprised?? I think what we saw was 1/3 of the original movie. Oh well.

And I think I had posted in PV thread too that one of my fav or rather only fab khulji scene was when he was standing outside the fort (all night) waiting for padmavati.
I think that was brilliantly portrayed. My favourite scene too. His longing/lust/obsession was so well portrayed!
. Rest was just a garish caricature. I disagree but understand that this is your POV so it's all subjective.

And no I haven't seen simmba, it's not my cup of tea... I really tried to like it but when I saw one of the intvs where Ranveer tried to pull the bechara card by saying sarah got rohit shetty movie while he had to wait 12 years . An interview on Sara using the nepo kid card and RS ' envying' her for being able to land even a small role in A Rohit movie so early in her career should not stop you from watching SIMMBA the movie- it is a great experience..even Brianha from the forum loved it..and she is no Ranveer fan! Try it, it IS a great movie!

Dude... you got a YRF debut as a lead while ayshman and rkr had to keep accepting small roles till they are NOW finally being appreciated... but no he had to open his mouth and continue his non existent victimhood...Ayushman told in Actor Roundtable he refused a LOT of roles until Vicky Donor.- so no, he didn't do small roles .He got a break as MAIN lead, exactly like RS with BBB. RKR also said he refused roles until he got BIG part with D Banerjee in LSAD and then in P.Kripalani's Ragini MMS.- his first and second roles were strong negative characters. HE got critics letters! So I dunno where you got this but both Ayushman and RKR refused roles and debuted as leads (and RS debut movie BBB was also not a big budget and with a debutant director..so not that great push).
He should let his work speak for himself without trying to make himself as a rags to riches bechara outsider making it big fake backstory . This is a matter of choice/like but I think he does have enough good work..and maybe not given enough credit bythose that try to put him down. Regarding the story.. oh well... whichever way.. he is an ACTOR first. THAT should matter most.

I haven't seen dabang or singham type movies either. So cricketfan1 would you recommend it to someone who is more of a SLB fan than a rohit shetty one . I have seen both Dabangg and Singham and enjoyed them. I like to have FUN! If you like to be entertained by a good story with the right action/drama/love and comic relief.. watch them all ! They are good for a gloomy day- great stress relievers! I love SLB's historical movies a lot (Bajirao, Devdas and PV are my most faves) but even I like some 'fluff'.😆

Then at one point he got cocky too. That didn't last though.

I used to watch his interviews so much. He had some spark then and something I connected with. It feels surreal to see him get so much love and adulation after being rejected and mocked.
But then he has proven his mettle. His work speaks for itself. I want him to earn goodwill like how Aamir has. For now he hasn't disappointed me except Kill Dill and Gunday. I even endorse Befikre. I enjoyed it.

I remember the cocky phase. Bth I felt he was lost and did not know what to do with his newfound fame at that point.

Same. I have always enjoyed his interviews. He has this uncanny ability to connect with you and his self deprecating humour is so refreshing. I love a guy who can take a joke on himself and does not take himself seriously. That is why when I see the trolling I find it amusing because I know Ranveer would have a great comeback and will just laugh it off. I mean hello AIB Roast.

I actually was not a Ranveer fa n during BBB. I liked him though because I seen some his promo interviews. Watched it because the wom was good and I love a good rom-com. It was Lootera that made me a hardcore Ranveer fan. After watching Lootera and RamLeela I knew he would become a big star. This misunderstood boy whose personality, energy, confidence was misunderstood and mocked would be loved and his eccentricites would be accepted. It is nice that he is loved so much.

Another reason why I love Ranveer is because he is a Cancer just like my hubby. Believe me his lovey-dovey act with Deepu is how Cancer men are like in relationships. They really can't stop gushing about their loves. I relate to lover boy Ranveer because he is just like my hubby. And I'm a Taurus (an Earth sign like Deepu) we don't believe in PDA, don't express our feelings selfish unlike the very giving PDA loving Cancer men. Cancers shell is hard but underneath it all they are the most caring and loyal people.

He didn't crash the yrf party. Duh... he made that up
And budget of BBB was under 10cr... certainly daddy could have managed that.

But I can see how some people manange to look past this just like they have forgotten abt the so poor I could only afford two shoes.

No one is taking away his achievements, it's just that the rags to riches story he's trying to sell... yes not buying it.

That BW parody account on twitter Odshek, he tweeted about all this and his daddy funding his movie and it got a lot of traction, no wonder rs felt compelled to address it, just like he blocked several people questioning his sob stories.

Anyway... lagay raho... it's very obv his stan brigade doesn't want to listen and would prefer to be blind and deaf when someone mentions all these inconsistencies...
