Chapter 61: The haunted and the cursed
'Sameera' Adeel called leaping out of a moving car and briskly walking through the guards
'Sam' he screamed walking around the dead hallway, the guards ran behind him and held onto him
'Kick him out' the head security guard ordered and before anyone could react to the order, they were pushed to the ground by a red seeing Adeel. Sam' he shouted running up the stairs
'She's at the hospital' someone ran from the kitchen and stated shocked with the intruder
'Why?' he cried almost throttling the informer
'We found her unconscious'
'Unconscious' he repeated moving a little away in shock, his hands fell to his side in defeat
'Maybe from the drinking' the helper said as Adeel's head shot up shaken and then he broke into a fast run. Sameera drinking was a bad sign, the 'baby' he cried just thinking of the consequence. One more drop and the foetus might live its last day, the alcohol had already caused enough damage, but now it'll hamper most of Sameera's and the Baby's chance of surviving.
'Please' he cried begging into his hands that raised in a prayer, bending his bend to land on top of it in humbleness as the driver rushed towards the hospital knowing his boss was broken, maybe for the first time.
'Nakul' Maan answered picking up the call from an unusual number
'Where are you Maan beta?' Nakul asked in a choked voice
'I'm just about to enter the mansion why kya hua' he asked alarmed, Geet was fast asleep at the side
'Sameera...Sameera's at the hospital fighting for her life' he cried and Maan stumped to a quick break
'WHAT?' he screamed waking up Geet suddenly, but he was too absorbed to notice
'I'm on my way right now' he said reversing and driving back the way he just drove. The fatigue he left few minutes ago left with the scare of Sameera, the romance on his mind was an unassuming mess, all of sudden the day wasn't rosy no more!
'What happened?' Geet asked still waking up but alert enough to know of the grey that just fell over them
'Sameera's in hospital, critical' he answered before she could ask more, he heard her grasp forcing him to hold her hand in his tight one. Soon he heard her weep, whether that was for the woman in the hospital or their failing plans, he wasn't sure and truth be told he didn't want to ask either and belittle his kind wife's personality.
BANG BANG BANG
'Open the door Seema, or your little sister here gets it' he seethed loudly kicking at the door while tightening his grips around his youngest daughter, within a few seconds he heard the rushed steps and then the unlocking of several locks.
'How many locks do you have?' he screamed as the weight numbed his arm
'I'mmm jussst... done' he heard the cry of his older daughter from the other side, once opened he pushed a traumatised Seema to the side, banging her shoulder on the way and rushed to the sofa.
'What have you done to her?' Seema cried suddenly forgetting the fear against her violent father, too worried about her bloodied baby sister
'Don't worry she's still alive' he mocked slinging his arms up and down to relieve the tensed muscles
'I've already called a doctor so open the door when he arrives' he advised heading towards an empty bedroom
'And no silly business' he warned with a glare, and then plastered his phone to his ear I'll text you an address, I want you here ASAP. Oh and get as many arms as possible', he ordered closing the door but before doing so he looked at Seema one final time, she looked dead hearing his speech
'Don't worry baby girl daddy won't harm his precious daughters, not until I get what is mine' he sneered loudly as fear attacked her small heart and body.
'Meera meera wake up, please wake up' Seema cried once the door was closed. All she wanted was to run away from this, 'Meera please' she cried with shaking hands not sure where to touch her baby sister who was strained in blood all over.
KNOCK KNOCK
'Hi I'm the doctor your father called for' Seema opened the door with increasing fear and then moved away seeing a scrooge looking man enter followed by many muscled species.
'Get some warm water' he ordered with a cold voice, no emotion not even when baby Meera whispered in pain. Seema ran collecting a bowl of water and then decided to collect a bottle of Dettol too, just in case. While walking to the sofa, she heard the unlocking of a lock, very soon Sameer stood at the end with a clean shirt and trousers.
'Didn't take you long, did it?' he mocked walking closer to her, she had sat on the floor beside her sister holding delicately on the hand as the doctor continued cleaning off the wound.
'You guys stay outside, watch out for any move' he ordered the muscled men and then looked at the doctor who continued to inspect the casualty.
'She's lost a lot of blood, I recommend you to admit her to a hospital' the unaffected doctor warned now bandaging the scarred forehead and coating a few other bruises, he had then injected in anaesthesia while Sameer walked around the room singing a tune; unaffected or simply ignorant.
'Sameer this might be serious' the doctor warned now switching the open wounds, Seema breathed in little wanting to dissolve into space. Even if the world opened up and swallowed her whole, she'd feel it was a better option then being in the same room as her father.
'Married already to a Raj, I see?' he asked instead looking at the photos on the fireplace, Seema continued looking to the ground, one emotion taking over; dread, every cell every fibre.
'See the Doctor out' he ordered once the doctor finished again advising him the same but he cared less, as long as Meera woke up to sign the deed of Authority to him, he cared less whether she survived or died. Maybe the latter was a better option, he thought walking menacing closer to the sofa as Seema jumped back in a scare. He had then giggled in venom, loving the aura he created.
'Ok' she whispered caressing her sister's cheek on last time before getting to her legs and heading towards the door, tears travelled like a river flow and her body shook violently: two things which she had no control over however volume she did; she always did. So silently she cried as she watched the doctor leave and she closed the door quietly irrespective of the pain and fear that held her in its stubborn grips. She sat back down on the floor noticing that her father walked away into the kitchen, the silent quiet room awakened with a call from Raj. She slowly etched to the coffee table and saw 'Raj' flashing on the mobile screen. With worried hands, she picked it up only for it to fall down with the sound of soft steps, the next she felt was Sameer standing on top on her hand that was clutched around the ringing phone.
'You shouldn't have never messed with me, daddy was kind; wasn't I?' he asked kneeling down pressing further down at her hand, but she only nodded eating away the painful scream that so desperately wanted to erupt.
'Do you think the man will survive?' the police officer asked his colleague, both were the first to land at the accident site. The car was brutally smashed, the driver side was completely dented. Now only a miracle could help the victim who was cut out of the vehicle with the help of the fire brigade.
'You never know, we've seen worse' it wasn't a statement but rather a prayer, the injured man was young. They both then walked to the ambulance which still had its siren on, readying to move as soon as possible. The casualty was being strapped to a stretcher by two paramedics while a third waited inside waiting with the needful.
'Have you found any identity?' the police asked once the stretcher was inside with two male attendants and the other shut the door walking around to sit on the driver's seat.
'Here' the paramedic driving nodded passing over a plastic bag with some cards and documents before speeding away to the closest hospital.
'Vicky Singh Khuranna' the police read in alert as both the officers immediately got into their car and followed the ambulance, one of them called for an investigation to start immediately knowing of the Khuranna profile. Though it could be a hit and run, but all evidence pointed towards a planned plot, is must have been a rival's job.
'Shall I call the last number?' the one on the passenger seat asked looking at Vicky's phone in contempt, Hmm' the other responded
Adeel ran through the hallway screaming for Sameera, until he was directed towards the reception who advised him to visit the ICU ward. He immediately fell through, zooming as fast as possible until he stopped at the door stating ICU ward. His legs all of a sudden grinded in guilt. He purposely ignored her while he found solutions to his hearts problem, and then chased after ambering sun when in reality all he cared for was green pastures.
'Sam' he teared walking into the crazy room, doctors had immediately asked him to exit the room while he refuted quietly walking to the dying woman on the bed. Her lips purpled, hand lay lost and face devoid of any emotion, this wasn't the Sameera he was accustomed to.
'Don't you ever leave me' he ordered falling to her side, the nurses and the doctors stopped working watching him fold his hand around her right hand. She had reacted, the beeping heart monitor raced implying a sudden surge of energy.
'Please don't leave me, even if I don't deserve you, don't leave me' he said wiping away those insidious tears before anyone noticed. He then got up and walked to one of the many members present in the room; long, rough and in demand
'Save her and the baby' he necessitated, hands firmly tucked into his pockets, as if stopping them from strangling anyone, just anyone. The crazed eyes looked ready.
'But she's...' the doctor started creating a little distance from the dark persona in front
'I don't think you heard me SAVE SAMEERA AND MY BABY' he shouted kicking the stool that held the equipment. His fierce confidence emitting from his being, put there was also the frustration.
'Adeel Rana won't ask, just make sure she and the baby are fine' he repeated walking out the room with silence following him out. He had entered in a commotion and left in hush, leaving the members in stillness. Fright knocked at the door, he wore an apron of harm and no one really wanted to know who or want he did instead the doctor shouted 'fit a catheter to her bladder now and call for the sonography reports'.
Geet had rushed running along with Maan but froze seeing Adeel walk from one end to the other, watching the room. She had quietly walked behind Maan, hiding behind his strong shoulder so the parading man couldn't know of her presence, very quiet and discreet, even her breathing softened. But he still turned towards her and she moved at edge closer to Maan, completely hiding herself in his arms.
'Geet everything will be OK?' Maan kissed the top of her forehead turning around. Geet looked over his shoulder and watched the man from the morning turn back around, as if he had seen nothing.
'Dadima' Maan assured resting a hand on top of Dadi's who sat on the plastic chair, he had then sat beside with Geet alongside him; all awaiting for some news about Sameera. By then Nakul had just returned with 2 cups of coffee and immediately started answering Maan's question completely unaware of the havoc he created behind. Adeel had once again looked towards Geet, who immediately tuned to the ground holding onto Maan with both her hands; maybe fear still persisted within her.
'Geet beta are you ok?' Nakul asked moving closer, the blockage he provided gave her some relief as now Adeel wasn't in her line of view. Maan looked confused at her scared form and then stared into his surrounding, only then realising someone else stood there, black trousers and a white shirt. There was a persona of control around him yet impulse screamed in rhyme.
'I don't know how he's connected but looks like he is in love with Sameera' Nakul answered Maan's questioning look, who smiled puzzlingly but two hearts froze. Geet in confusion, he had claimed to love her in the afternoon and Adeel in realisation; was his heart noiselessly falling for Sameera while his mind looked for ways to get close to Geet.
'I don't...' Adeel started but stopped giving up on the last words 'love was tiring and confusing' he consoled himself instead, but right now all he cared for was Sameera being at his side and her baby alright.
