Now I know its terribly late, but well, I didn't know whether I should post it on IF or not. I am not even posting it here actually, its just a kind of glimpse into it.

Also, I know, I know, the title is terribly stupid, lame and on-the-face, but it was literally the first thing that came into my mind when I started typing lol 😆

Now I know the title says Rikara FF, but there is going to be quite a bit about other characters from the Oberoi verse, so bear with me.

Also, I'm no writer, this is just something that has been bugging my mind and finally I decided to type it down.

Please make sure to read the Concept I've given in the beginning before you decide to read this FF. Thank you!

BTW 71 chapters are already published on Wattys, and the FF is gonna be double of this roughly, so well, yeah, be prepared for the long haul, lol.

Here is the link.

Would Gauri still love Omkara if she was not married to him?

That's the question that has been bugging me throughout Rikara's story in canon i.e. the show. Since Omkara never accepted the validity of their marriage until confession, his feelings for Gauri always seemed more...logical and organic for me. I felt Gauri's feelings were a result of her strong faith in Shankarji's choice for her and savior complex, because Omkara saved her life. I do not feel that Gauri would love him otherwise. So, this is the question I want to probe through this FF.

Would Gauri fall in love with Omkara if she was not bound to him in marriage?

I really don't know myself where I'm heading with this question but this FF is going to mainly look at Rikara story, without the baggage of marriage that Gauri was forced to carry around.

Though the main emphasis is Rikara, there will be Rumya and other characters as well. Annika will feature much more prominently later in the sister track. So, if you are not interested in these characters, its going to be a taxing read. The only thing I can assure as of now, that at least in this FF, Billu will get least ss (lol!)

Also, the most important point. This FF is largely lifted from canon. I'm just going to tweak the circumstances and point of views, and give more exposition (hopefully). So, if you are expecting something brand new then this FF is not your cup of tea.

I'm not much of a writer, so thats another hurdle. Anyone dillydallying about trying this FF, can gauge my laughable writing skills through my SvetRi OS, Break.

The story in this FF starts from around 200 episodes of Ishqbaaaz, from the point where Jahnvi attempts suicide and Omkara vows to become like Shivaay, to protect his mother.

I'm not hoping for a lot of views or votes, but I would really appreciate if readers leave their constructive feedback/criticism in the comments. It would really help me pursue my theory. Feedback with respect to Omkara is especially appreciated, since I'm quite comfortable understanding Gauri (being one of her staunch fans, lol!).

Thank you, potential readers.

P.S. I hope to be regular with updates, but lets see.

Just posting the prologue here. The rest of the chapters are on Wattpad. Can't bother with IF rules, sorry.

Omkara's point of view:

"Iss aag mein meri maa toh nahi jali, par unka woh achcha beta jal gaya".

"Aapne patthar ko dil bante huye dekha hai, par ab aap dil ko patthar bante huye dekhenge"

"Main apne dard mein itna dooba huya tha, ki main apne maa ka sahaara nahi ban paaya."

"Ab main apni maa ka sahara banunga, main Shivaay banunga".

Omkara's words kept churning in his mind like a whirlpool. He never had much control over his anger, but earlier that anger was only directed at this father. This time that anger was directed at himself. He was responsible for his mother's plight, he was the elder son of his mother, he was supposed to be there for her, but he wasn't. He wasn't there for her, and now look what it has come to. The fire that almost burnt his mother to death, was now raging within him. But instead of burning him, it just made him deathly calm. He could see the worry in Shivaay's eyes, Shivaay who loved Omkara the most in the world. But now Shivaay had his own life, his own problems. Omkara would not burden him anymore with his issues. Rudra's eyes reflected fear; he was scared for his elder brother. Elder brother, yes, Omkara was an elder brother too. Till now only Shivaay had fulfilled the duties of an elder brother but now it was his turn, Omkara's turn. If their parents marriage dissolved, then Rudy will be deeply hurt and Prinku? She was already suffering from anxiety attacks. His mother will not survive if her marriage breaks. No, he can't let this happen. He will figure out some way, he will deal with Tej Singh Oberoi. He will not his father ruin his family's lives, even if he ruins himself in the process.

Rudra's point of view:

"Tu fikar mat kar Shivaay. Main theek hoon. Ab main kamzor nahi padunga."

In reality, Om has never looked more weak to Rudy. Rudy could see the soulfulness draining from his brother's eyes, being replaced with a wall that he can't see through.

In one moment their lives changed forever. Rudy thought that by agreeing to marry Tej's business associate's daughter, he will solve the issue. Om would never submit to being a "deal" for their father. Before both of them could lock horns, Rudy intervened and took it upon himself. He was ready to sacrifice himself to this marriage, if that brought peace in the family. But it all went in vain, when that footage of Soumya and his drunk wedding leaked to the press. He was hundred percent sure that Annika bhaabhi had nothing to do with it, someone was framing her. But that wasn't important any longer.

What was important was that their mother almost died, their parents' marriage is about to end, and his brother, Om, who had together with Shivaay bhaiyaa, always shielded him from all problems, was falling apart. The twisted smile that Om was giving right now to reassure them, scared him even more. They might have saved their mother, but his brother was lost.

All would have been fine if only the roka ceremony had gone peacefully. But it didn't because of that drunk wedding. That wedding with Soumya. Yes, Soumya she was responsible for all this mess. Deep-down his heart Rudra knew that its not her fault, but right now he wanted to blame someone for what was happening. His father left with that vixen, Svetty, so now the only person who he could pin the blame on was Soumya.

Translations for Om's dialogues

"Iss aag mein meri maa toh nahi jali, par unka woh achcha beta jal gaya". (This fire didn't burn my mother, but it burnt her good son.)

"Aapne patthar ko dil bante huye dekha hai, par ab aap dil ko patthar bante huye dekhenge" (You've seen stone turning into a soft heart, but now you will see a soft heart turning into stone)

"Main apne dard mein itna dooba huya tha, ki main apne maa ka sahaara nahi ban paaya."(I was so deep in my own sorrow, that I could not be a support to my mother)

"Ab main apni maa ka sahara banunga, main Shivaay banunga". (Now I will be my mother's support, I will be like Shivaay)

"Tu fikar mat kar Shivaay. Main theek hoon. Ab main kamzor nahi padunga." (Don't worry Shivaay, now I won't fall weak)

P.S. This is basically from the 4th Feb episode (I think). I suggest those who have not seen IB, before DBO, to check out this episode, as it captures Om's trauma really well. If not for anything, then Kunal has acted his best in this episode.

P.P.S This is from where I'm planning to start the story. Thanks!

These questions are genuinely so genuine(lol I'm bad). Even I've felt the same way. Although Gauri's feelings were pure and unadulterated BUT like Shrenu herself said in her interview, it wasn't love but devotion.
Gauri could never distinguish between Love and Devotion. She felt and took it as a duty of loving him for being Omkara's wife. She did fall in love in a this, but she never realized when she truly did. She was taught from the beginning that it's a wife's duty to love her husband. A wife must prior her husband over everything and so she did. I really wonder how it would be if Gauri realized her feelings correctly and was not bound to feel a certain way. This should be interesting to know and I'm really looking forward to this one.

Also, as you said about Omkara. He was genuine with himself. Omkara was never an impulsive person. He always gave everything a thought or two. He did not just jump into relationships. For him, few rituals could not decide who he shared his life with. What happened with him in the past(his ex, his abusive father and drunk mother and the recent occusring of his mother being abused and setting herself on fire), made him decide that he wouldn't love anymore. He had trust issues, and most importantly he was determined to hate. That's why he found irrelevant reasons to hate Gauri. The faith of him that everyone has good in them was completely shattered, so it was hard to believe that Gauri was one. Also, seeing Svetlana, he decided to tag Gauri as a gold digger, despite seeing that she had a lot of self respect right when they met for the first time. It was his insecurities for being betrayed numerously. It took him time to accept his relationship with the woman he was married to, just like it took him time to fall in love with her.

I am genuinely looking forward to this story
