Guys please don't call any version as south India version...I being a south India have have never heard of anything mentioned above and Karna is my favourite character...and the best part of mahabharat is everyone is humans and have made mistakes knowingly or unknowingly due to the circumatances...
Everyone has reasons for their actions...Mahabharat gets story of everyone, their mistakes and circumstance which lead to it and most importantly everyone, iImean everyone paid for their mistakes including Lord Krishna...and I never heard Arjuna being god...and for me only krishna is god...now mahabharat leaves it to you how you interpret and what you believe in...

For me Mahabharata has 2 heroes- Karna and Ekalavya.
As everyone suggested all the Mahabharata characters belongs to different shades of grey..so if we take even the most greyish character and see the story in their POV then we will understand that they are also not entirely wrong.
Here Kavita/serial creatives are trying to look at the story keeping Karna as the central hero in karna and his beloveds POV..if they are talking some creative liberty, what's wrong in it when they themselves are admitting it's all fiction.
"Vadakkan pattukal" is a collection of Malayalam ballads of medieval origin.. majority of them present sagas of Kalaripayatu heroes..The most famous one was the story of legendary Aromal chekavor and how he was deceived and killed by his crook cousin Chanthu...And the whole story changed overnight when renowned writer M T Vasudevan Nair wrote a novel based on Chanthu as the central character seeing things from his pov..the novel, followed by the movie which was based on that novel did an image make over of Chanthu from a crook person to a misunderstood victim..Thats creative liberty..M.T has also rewrote Mahabharata in Bhims pov..
I love reading stories from different characters pov..I have read Mahabharata in Bhims , Droupadi, and Gandhsris pov...I have not read a story on Karnas pov but if anyone knows any such version plz recommend me.
It's mythology( collection of myths), there is no witness who can clearly say what happened..so what's the point of arguing who was right/wrong, who was more capable when there is no clear cut answers..just enjoy the story telling and let others enjoy too...If it bothers you so much then it will be better if you quit watching rather than straining yourself.. Though I worship Karna I didn't watch star plus Mahabharata because I can't watch the glorification of Pandavas..I believe that's the wiser thing to do.
