It's good manners to get your spouses consent but it's not required. He doesn't have to have her approval to validate a marriage.

Peer Sab was already furious that Zara didn't respect his order to of accepting her fait and living peacefully sharing her husband . Kabeer showed respect to the leader pacifying him while asking for his duaa that his and Zara's love and marriage survive this difficult test they are enduring.
