Friends, I am happy that I waited till today to do this analysis, because Friday was a very critical episode as far as the analysis goes. Because it was so symbolic and directly connected to the first episode. I have tried my best to draw all parallels. I hope many of my readers can pin point many other things and help me plug the loop holes.
A man Aditya Hooda puts colors on a girl Zoya in the streets of Mussorie, takes the gramaphone from her, jumps a fence and sits facing away from her holding the prize he has got distracting the girl. While Zoya stands mute unable to comprehend what has just happened. Her reverie and his happiness is broken by a phone call both of them gets. Together they enter a restricted area. Zoya still drenched in the color Aditya has put on her. Symbolically his bride as their partners were already dead when Aditya Hooda put the sindoor from Goddess procession on Zoya Siddique. But then Aditya holds Pooja's hand and Zoya holds Yash's hand. If you look now both holding on to their past. And between Aditya and his bride lies Yash and Pooja.
Situations bring Aditya and Zoya together, they never realising destiny had married them on the day they met in Mussorie. They dont know what pulls them to each other, but they are pulled as if an unknown force is binding them. They call themselves business partners, but the bond they share becomes much more than business partners. And it doesnt have name. The force that unknowingly binds them is mutual trust. With so much pain, so much questions, so much anger Zoya and Aditya starts trusting each other. The very same trust that made him tell on Bella Haldi that Zoya can never have affair with Rohan or behave inappropriately with him knowingly. The very same trust when Zoya held on to Aditya's hand on the rooftop even when he was screaming with blind rage and never once questioned him on that incident.
The trust that made Aditya Hooda open up to Zoya his vulnerable side whether pain, anger, childishness or his questions. The very same trust that made him fight with her, laugh at her, mock her, save her , care for her and make her laugh. If Aditya's trust for Zoya showed up in his communication and the way he cared for her and saved her, Zoya's trust for this man is shown most importantly in the three nights she spend with him. She spend three nights with a man with whom she had no named relation and incidentally on all the three nights she was at peace with herself.
Soon Aditya give the name of friendship to the trust they share and though not acknowledging it first Zoya reciprocates her friendship towards him on the banks of the river. But even they didnt realize by that time they had become much more than friends for each other.
Aditya leaves for Paris and though successful with her company Zoya yearns everyday for the return of her friend whom she calls her Azeez dost. Finally her voice does reach him and leaving behind a lonely life he comes back to India though thinking of returning again. But being with her, he realizes he is his peace and slowly starts acknowledging his true feelings for her. He has fallen head over heels for this woman and he cant live without her. As such Zoya doesnt reciprocate as she is afraid of those feelings, but on the day of Nikaah she no longer can hide what she feels for him and finally she gets married to him dressed in the color he threw on her. The relationship that started on trust finally gets a name. Married couple. Aditya Hooda and Zoya Aditya Hooda.
But just like when he throw color on her, he had jumped a fence and moved away from her and together the first place they had visited was an accident site with two people their ex partners death. Similarly in their privacy as they try to enjoy the marital bliss, she still dressed in red, the past, the death comes reckoning. The power goes, the darkness comes, taking along with it Aditya Hooda from the room. The love becomes her weakness as she comes like a mad woman to protect him. The love binds her not just to him, but to his family and she becomes a katputli or a dancing doll for someone to play on her. In the love she is afraid of losing him, similar to that dark night where she had lost Yash. And her behaviour makes him worried as just like he wandered on that streets alone thinking about the happy moments spend with his wife Pooja, he sats at one corner not able to understand what is troubling his bride. Has he done some mistake as if in past. She assures him nothing of that sort, just like the candle lights he saw in the church when he awoke.
Now we get some sweet moments between the married couple as Zoya has decided to chose her present over the past. That very sweet aeroplane journey which Adiya had, though fighting with each other. That day he fell on her lap and now she fell on him . That day she was angry, he was sarcastic, but today both of them enjoying the intimacy. His naughty smile and her shy smile completes the moment for what it is. That day they were mourning and today they were full of life. But neverthless that aeroplane journey was a reprise for both of them from the harsh reality they were facing at that time.
But then the honeymoon period ends. The first place both of them were forced to visit after coming to Mumbai was funeral place. From the aeroplane where they meet is the funeral place. A place where Zoya is not allowed entry and Aditya comes out without giving mukhagni to his wife Pooja. Pooja who at that time was carrying Yash's child was given the farewell of a hooda bahu which Aditya couldnt comphehend, but for his father that was necessary to safeguard the honor of the family.
Yash family doesnt want Zoya to be there and they also dont want any talk of Yash's affair with Pooja and they does the final ceremony quietly.
Now once again after Adiya become married couple, the first ceremony they are doing together is that of barsi of Poosh. This time it is not the family who is doing it, but the havan is done by Aditya and Zoya. The peace that poosh didnt get during the funeral, they will get it only when Adiya will do what needs to be done as friends for them.
Look at the way how the barsi happened. Zoya Aditya Hooda comes colored in red and wearing everything a married woman should be wearing to Aditya on the previous night telling they have to get their lost respect and she needs his support. That time Zoya is colored in Aditya's love and that boxing punching bag stands between them. Just like the fence of first episode. Just like Poosh in first episode. Only difference that day Aditya faced away from Zoya, this time they both were looking at each other.
Next day while organizing reception we see Zoya colored in Yellow, most importantly she doesnt have bindi. Only bangles and Mangalsutra. Aditya's friend who has his trust, on whom he believes can do things correctly even when they are obstacles. And she taking his support. Zoya with Zosh employees what she was before Adiya marriage, kind of same one who organized his parent's anniversary party.
When he comes for the actual event, it is not party. Pooja's photo is kept and Zoya comes in white saree. No ornaments except the mangalsutra. Her hair is tied, compared to all other avatars whether in red or in yellow. They sit together. At that point there is nothing between them. But Aditya is between Pooja's photo and Zoya. And Zoya is between Yash's photo and Aditya. So now it is their choice to choose the past or present. Once again the relation has come back to just trust and the fact that Zoya's hair is tied it shows she will protect those things which he wants to protect and means so much for him.
In the past their trust had no symbol. But today Aditya's trust on Zoya is seen in the MS that Zoya wears around the neck. And Zoya's trust on Aditya is seen in the Yash's photo he keep beside Pooja. If her love can make her do his first wife's barsi, then his love for her will make him do the barsi of her first husband also. Another interesting thing is in the first episode Aditya held Pooja's hand, but now Zoya holds her hand. In the first episode Zoya held Yash's hand, but now Aditya holds his hand. In nutshell justice to Pooja is through Zoya and justice to yash is through Aditya. And for that both of them will have to bear heavy cross.
For Aditya in front of him is the photo of the woman who is wearing the MS he has given her and there is a woman sitting by his side who is also wearing the MS he has given her. The woman in the photo broke his trust and the fact that Pooja is shown in colors means she had different shades and different secrets that kind of destroyed him. The one sitting on his side has also got secret, but it is to safeguard him, protect him and the white signifies she has no other shade, only one shade that he has always trusted with. So it is for him to fight his past and chose this girl Zoya and never compare her with Pooja.
Same with Zoya. The one in front of her, is in white who showed an image as others wanted to see him and the one sitting on her side in black is the man who showed the world the way he is. It was not something good about him, but he also showed the world his darkness. Or more the world only loved to see his darkness. But she has experienced his good heart. So it is her fight also not to compare his follies with her past.
Pooja the woman who did EMA never had to undergo any fire test. But to bring peace, but to cure Aditya, Zoya will have to step in the mud and inorder to prove the mud has not dirtied her, she will be asked again and again to take the fire test to prove the sacred love she has for Aditya. Pooja was Aditya's wife and had Yash in her heart and was carrying his baby. Still for the world she was abla nari, wronged woman, a victim. Zoya who has every right to think about Yash as she was his wife and now have every right to defend Aditya will be crucified again and again for her choice. As the BM said Zoya is trying to take Pooja's place. Really.
Pooja had tried to take her place in Yash's life. She had told Pooja's love was pak, now to prove her love pak she will have to fight. That day Aditya told he doesnt want any scandal. But now even he will have to go through scandals not because of Pooja who did EMA, but because of Zoya who will be forced to do certain actions for protection. That time she will realize Aditya's words on pak poosh and how pak poosh love was.
Similarly Aditya's favorite hobby was telling Zoya about " Tumhara cheater pati." and mocking her trust on Yash. In the battle for peace the world is going to tell Zoya once again " Tumhara cheater pati" only difference this time on the receiving end is Aditya Hooda. That time he will realize the importance of Zoya's trust, that blind trust which he will need to the great extend.
Adiya have dealt with the wound. But it is not healed. Now the barsi has rolled the process of healing, but that medicine is going to be bitter and painful as they will fight their past. More than love, it is the mutual trust that they have will make them win the battle. Because Pooja was Aditya's choice. That marriage failed. Zoya is again Aditya's choice. If he fails once again, then his choice, his intelligence will be mocked. Same with her. Yash was her choice, Aditya is also her choice.
So to create their identity they need each other. They have to heal each other and once again they have to hold the hands with trust binding them over and above the love. Because when Zoya was in bridal attire she protected Aditya. Her love. But now if the precap is not a dream she will protect many. For that she needs his trust uppermost than his love.
It also showed that battle for peace will kill the darkness in both of them, that's what I felt when those two crows died. That's the hidden message. The darkness in Aditya life because of Pooja and Papa Hooda betrayal and the darkness in Zoya's life because of Yash betrayal and the curses she received will die in that battle. Even Adiya will suffer and will get a rebirth sort of as the poison needs to go out.
With her love she will heal him and with his friendship he will restore her reputation. It will be always Aditya's love wrapped in friendship and Zoya's friendship wrapped in love that will bring them together because that is what they are. Slowly when their partner accept them for what they are, the fight will stop and they will get healed.
But that journey will be quite painful, but at the same time can give the viewer's internal peace.
PS: I had watched Beyhadh end to end. Though it was a psycho thriller I had never felt afraid of Maya. At times I felt sorry for her, at times she made me laugh and most of the times I enjoyed her bindaas style. But on Friday when Zoya walked in white with that barsi ki pooja thali if they had played Maya's signature song " tujhe pyaar karte karte" in its eerie remix version, I would have shouted Aditya bhaago. 😆😆. That was the eerieness, fear that scene created as though everything was for peace, nothing looked peaceful
