There can't be a legal action unless the victim choses to take a legal stand. But the movement surely will help instilling fear in the minds of all accused and other potential predators in future. Also we needed to ensure a safe sorrunding when a woman decides to file a law suit. Her family and her safety should not be put at stake. The movement and visibility of events will help ensure that.

It's not about court case and punishment, even acknowledgement of the fact that someone is taking undue advantage of their power is a big deal.

Milod. So, do you think the girls in the #me Too forum are lyin*? Or do you believe.

I totally believe the victim girls obviously. That's why I said I was heartbroken. But how are they going to get justice without evidence? How will be their predators be punished?

The cases will not go to courts, and that's why I consider this MeToo movement a BS. Now any woman will come and accuse a powerful person for sexual harassment, and everyone including this hypocritical forum will believe her without any other further investigation. The Indian law works under "innocent under proven guilty" except for the cases of child abuse. But in media trials it's always "guilty until proven innocent" for cases where women are considered as the victims.
Also why didn't they come out before? Why wait for some movement? Go to the Court and fight the case if you really feel that injustice has happened to you. Now don't cry that the judicial system is messed up, it'll take years, blah blah. You are giving up without even trying. That means you are not really serious about the harassment that happened to you. There is no use of just crying for sympathy. People will always take advantage of you if you're weak. That's how the world works. You can either fight or give up!!

That's besides the point. The big takeaway from this movement in India, at least, is that people will finally understand the importance of consent. And that any type of sexual behavior done to another without consent is sexual harassment, not just molestation and rape. Lastly, going forward, more women will know that if they speak up, media will take note, unlike in the past, where nobody paid attention. This will definitely go a long way in making the perps hesitant. That's for sure.

In a country, where gruesome rapes and murders of minors and even toddlers go unpunished and unaccounted for, it seems like a joke to even think that this Me Too movement will lead to anything concrete.
It already seems fizzled out to me.

Why do you say they are unaccounted for? I think such brutal cases get rather fast-tracked by courts and the culprits face even more harsh punishment.

Solution?

First, at least the problem needs to be spoken about. Which it now is.

Tanushree has spoken. Chitrangadha has spoken. Luv Ranjan has been implicated. A lawmaker has been implicated. The govt has said it is going to take note.

Isn't this a step UP from men or women sexually exploiting persons in weaker positions and enjoying no repercussions?

Everything has its time.

It was time for Nana to be outed. It was time for Sajid to be outed. Sajid has stepped down from Houseful. Would it have happened if Tanushree hadn't taken matters into her own hands and set the ball rolling?

Alok Nath has so many of his co actresses speaking against him. Even if he doesn't go behind bars, the whole world knows he cannot be trusted with girls and women. This is something as compared to him merrily victimizing women and going scot free.right?

So what's a woman got to do? Say, who will believe us and remain quiet and further empower lecherous immoral sociopaths?
