Understanding The Cinematography of P. C. Sreeram

This video is very interesting...hence posting it over here...for those who have seen many Kamal and Mani films would identify with some of the scenes...PC Sreeram is India's highest paid cinematographer...

PC Sreeram and Santosh Sivan have worked in some of the best visually pleasing Indian movies. These days it is Ravi Varman and has a very different style, relatively older movies had a lot to do with shadows and silhouttes but now it is about how the colours are played with, might have to do with the evolving and high technology. When I still watch the old Mani Ratnam movies, I'm bowled over by how beautiful the scenes looked. They set the mood of the movie perfectly. The back light of which they speak in this video, I have noticed it many times during song sequences. Another point about technicians being underpaid, this has been spoken about so many times, wonder if this is changing even a little.
