After screening 400 movies in 18 different cities across India, the 9th Jagran Film Festival handed out the film honours as part of closing ceremony and awards nights, held at the at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai on Sunday (30 September).

Actor Pankaj Kapur, actress Tabu and filmmakers Kamlesh Pandey and Imtiaz Ali received special honours from the festival while the films Mukkabbaz (2018), Victor's History (2017), Village Rockstars (2018) and Ee.Ma.Yau (2018) were highlighted as the best of the past year.

TABU GAVE PANKAJ KAPUR, WITH HIS WIFE SUPRIYA PATHAK, THE ICON OF INDIAN CINEMA AWARD.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Pankaj Kapur was awarded with the Icon of Indian Cinema' award. Kapur was presented with the honour by his Maqbool (2003) co-star Tabu who was given Jagran Film Festival Retrospective Award'.

Veteran screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey received the award for Special Contribution to Cinematic Art' and while filmmaker Imtiaz Ali received the Rajnigandha Achievers Award'.

SUDHIR MISHRA PRESENTS ANURAG KASHYAP WITH THE BEST DIRECTOR AWARD FOR MUKKABAAZ (2018).

Anurag Kashyap's Mukkabaaz (2018) was the big winner of the night with three awards for Best Actress (Zoya Hussain), Best Director, and Best Writing (for Kashyap and Vineet Kumar Singh). Actor Varun Dhawan received Best Actor for his sensitive portrayal in Shoojit Sircar's October (2018).

SUPRIYA PATHAK PRESENTED ZOYA HUSSAIN WITH THE BEST ACTRESS AWARD FOR MUKKABAAZ (2018).

Nicolas Chevaillier's first film Victor's History was given the Best Foreign Feature Film, while Rima Das's Assamese film Village Rockstars, which is India's entry to next year's Oscars was given the Best Indian Feature Film trophy.

The Special Jury Awards were given to Ee.Ma.Yau (2018) for Best Film in Indian Language' and Reema Sengupta's Counterfeit Kunkoo and Jennifer Rosen's Lakshya won in the short film category.

Held in cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gorakhpur, Agra, Ludhiana, Hissar, Meerut and Raipur, the 9th edition of the festival came to a close in Mumbai.
