I think it was not easy for Colors to decide to end Udaan.
The fact is Colors for long time now has problem with prime time shows. Udaan managed to to good but not enough, I think they wanted to reach 2,5. That's why as soon as they saw trs increasing during second half mission track they ended it promoted show and gave Udaan Anjor Ki. And that was biggest mistake. If they continued the story at least one more track before taking a leap it would've been better.
However, till now only Shakti was saviour for prime time slots and now it's affected and will be even more. So they had to make prime time slots stronger. That's why they removed three shows after 10 pm and gave 9-10 you BB and to compete KBC also. And they revamped all shows before just to give them opportunity but it didn't worked.
Udaan couldn't stay at 8:30 pm slot anymore they needed show which is different from other rival concepts that why they gave it to Salim.
They could've given udaan some other prime time slot, but it would mean they are replacing one relatively new show which (for them) means there are still more possibilities and here with Udaan they are already stacked with leads having 8 years old child. If trp didn't increase with their speed which thay probably tried in first two weeks then show would be wrapped very soon. So keeping new shows or giving prime time slots for BB was better idea.
The only slot they could gave Udaan was probably 7:30 but there was no fair reason to do it to IMMJ. Trps of both shows are similar and if they gave that slot for Udaan there was no guarantee it won't drop.
Whatever time slot they could possibly gave to Udaan would've mean drop in trp and that would lead to speed peace of the show, and very soon they would've left without ideas. Bringing generational leap wouldn't work and it would probably mean losing slavery concept. I think neither channel or production wanted it so decided not to destroy current trp of Udaan and instead to pull show off air.
Final decision was probably made the same day when they decided to give BB prime time.
Must admit that changes they brought maybe will work for Colors. Maybe with BB, Shakti performing good, IMMJ constant trps and Salim Anarkali working good coz of its different concept they will regain first position. They probably expect that India's for talent will gave them same trps like Dance Dewane..
On other side...
They promote BP Silsila so much yet what they did with them shows they don't actually care at all for these shows. It looks like they are keeping them only coz of its online popularity.
Maybe their reason for ending Udaan was justified with the fact that it didn't bring them trps they want for quite some time and that they didnt wanted to leave show to suffer in some other show... maybe ph didn't accepted it also. Still it's injustice. Two months for wrapping the show should have been given at least. Their ignorantion and not saying anything is even bigger injustice. They are in hurry and although they made good plans to strengthen prime time slots this hurry is probably only thing which can make them do bigg mistakes like injustice they did with Udaan..
Colors is on loss even if it works all like they have imagined. They are losing udaan and they know they will never ever have show like it. They are losing only show which is strongly holding on its social concept, Colors is more and more becoming just a regular entertainment channel in race for trps. And ending Udaan is defintely end of an era for Colors. I think they knew it, but in their business world trps are only that matter.
