I can't think of any BW actress with appropriate accent for HW... They all sound cringeworthy
And most actors...

She will have a car, a fancy car, but will she want to drive herself to auditions is what I said when she has someone drive her in India. And then the uber posts started. If people want to believe DP will take ubers like an ordinary girl in LA, then go ahead believe it, who am I to say no. 😆

But having a driver consistently in the US is only for very rich people which I have seen. Many people who have nice cars prefer to drive themselves or ride expensive bikes like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

As for driving difficulty in LA, we have to agree to disagree. Perhaps it was my age, but I found it the most difficult to drive and road rage was very bad. One of my scariest memories is being chased in anger by a guy because I made a slow turn.I got the middle finger salute using both fingers. I don't think many people in India do that. Those long freeways and having to travel everywhere on one to get from Point A to B. I hate LA driving. That is my experience. NY is just a mess.

As for drivers in India, why do even the middle class have maids ? Cheap labor. We have hired a driver for a few hours when we visited India and we provided the car. It cost less than $10 for 5 hours. With labor that cheap in India will DP be able to keep a driver on staff consistently like India. She has to buy or rent a house, probably hire a maid, a cook unless she can take her team to LA. IDK how that works but definitely she will have to pay staff in dollars not rupees else get in trouble.
Living a Mumbai lifestyle in rupees is definitely much cheaper but when you try to replicate that lifestyle in dollars even if you have millions of them it will deplete faster. The people who moved like Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz were all not established like DP so they lived smaller lives.

Botton line, lifestyle matters to most people. Most people move for something better or similar. If PC was going to struggle in LA, I don't think she would have done it. The woman had a Rolls in Mumbai way before Quantico. So why would she settle. She had a job on Network TV as a lead, got paid millions of dollars, probably had a studio car and driver to take her back and from set. No loss in lifestyle and easier to build a life. It enhanced PC's bank account. In DP's case she will have to dip into her fortune to build a life there.

I live in LA. I hate driving. Also, I work at a studio... I don't see TV actors having drivers.. they drive themselves.

Last year we visited CA...We drove south from SF...and when we got to LA...I was the one driving at that time...rental car...and I forced my hubby to return the rental care and we took uber everywhere for the 4 days we stayed there...the driving conditions and the parking conditions are so bad there...and uber is super reasonably priced compared to other cities...uber prices in Dallas are ridiculous..
But Justmoi...there is no way Deepika is not doing more HW movies because of driving problems...lol..she can very well afford a driver or call a regular cab if not uber..

I'll never understand the criticism DP gets for her accent. She is an Indian who has been raised in India, hence she will have the same accent. Priyanka gets criticized for putting up a fake accent, so I'm assuming DP wouldn't be spared either...if she tries to change hers. Kare toh koi kya kare bhai? 😆 Anyway, let us hope she does more Bollywood movies where she is clearly loved and no one has a problem with her accent. 😃

I have come to realize when it comes to any India+America topic like diversity, cultural appropriation, apu controversy there are two groups involved with two different perspectives.

From what I have seen Priyanka mainly gets criticized for her accent by Indians who think she is trying to be someone she is not, so she doesn't sound like them. I think Indian-Americans understand the only way to survive in mainstream Hollywood is to mask that accent that everyone here mocks.

If DP changed her accent then Bollywood will mock her saying she has changed. But people in the west who want to see her make it Hollywood will understand why she had to. And DP doesn't need to change her accent in real life. She just needs to know how to hide it for roles. So far she has only done one role that required her to keep her accent. Going by her previous role, I have little faith in her ability to change how she speaks.
