Hurt
Geet walked back home thinking about the earlier incident. She was welcomed by her mom, "You are late today."Mom, actually I'm studying with Meera these days, we went to the library to get some studying done, She said. "Alright, Geet, but you have to really work hard, if you want to get into a better stream as for Meera, that child is a genius, she will definitely get a good stream, Her Mom Naina said. "Alright mom, I will try my best...umm...is there anything to eat, She said rubbing her tummy pouting. Her mom smiled at her child she was always interested in food had she shown this much interest in her studies, she would be better than anyone. "Alright, let us wait for your brother, you go and change until then, Her Mom said.
"Alright, She grinned. She went to her room but was still thinking about the strange incident which happened to her...she was sure it was real. "Mom, I'm home, She heard her elder brother. She came running down not to greet her brother but for food. "Mom so now can we eat, She asked. "Again the greedy little pig is here, Her brother teased. "Brain needs carbohydrates, you know, She pouted. "Oh so you mean you still have something in that tough skull of yours, He said tapping her head making her wince in pain.
"Geet, is something wrong, did you get hurt, Karan was instantly worried. "I..I don't know bhai...but it hurts a little, She said rubbing her head. Her mom and her brother made her sit on the couch to look for some injury. "Geet, where did this swelling came from, did you hurt your head somewhere or bang it on something accidentally, Her Mom asked seeing the swollen area on her daughter's head.
"Geet, did anyone harm you, tell me the name I will take care of that person, Karan said enraged seeing the bump on her head. "Is it ...of that time, Geet thought recalling how she used head butt to protect Meera. "When, Her brother asked. "Ah, it is nothing bhai, I was reading and it happened when I picked up the eraser under the table, She lied. "Be careful Geet, you are such a klutz, Karan said. "Alright, I will be careful, She smiled. They had their dinner and Geet went to her room thinking about the strange incident today. "That boy was a miser, She thought. "But he was really handsome, She accidentally wrote this in her diary. "Ah Geet, got to study to keep mom happy, She said resuming her studies. On the other hand, Meera too had the same thoughts about that boy they met.
She woke up the next morning to prepare for her meeting with Meera. After having her breakfast, she went to the library. "You're late Geet, Meera said. "I'm sorry, I got up late, She apologized. Meera smiled and handed her the lunch box she got for her, "Here, your favorite cookies and cake, I baked them for you.
"Thank you Meera, I love you the most, Geet grinned. They started their studies with Meera helping Geet. Meera dropped her pen and Geet bend down to pick it up as soon as she got down, she saw the same red light with the flapping sound of a bird's feathers. "Geet, Geet what happened, She heard Meera who had her pen now. "Nothing, I guess just my imagination, She dismissed. "What imagination...Geet we have only three months and I want you with me in the same stream, Meera said. "We will be together Meera...forever, I promise, She smiled. After studying both had the meal Meera prepared and headed for their coaching classes.
On their way, Meera asked, "Geet, I have been wondering about that strange dream...I really wanted to investigate about that. So what say we go investigate it again."I have to study Meera,you know I must get in that stream so I'm trying hard...I'm sorry I can't go with you, She said. Geet noticed her mom but before she could run to her she saw a man with her. Geet was upset at the scene. Meera looked at her friend and found her upset. "Are you alright, She asked. "I..I'm fine, Geet said. "You are a pathetic liar Geet, so spill it, you know I hate to see you upset, Meera said. "I saw Mom there with a man, Geet said. "May be he was her acquaintance, you know adults have many acquaintances so now cheer up. Let us get you some snack to refresh your mood, She smiled. "Alright, Geet said. They went to their coaching after their little snack.
Geet was still thinking about the man with her mom so she didn't pay attention to what the teacher was saying landing her into trouble. "Miss Handa, if you keep daydreaming like this then you won't get into the stream of your choice. The exams are near and you still aren't paying any attention, The teacher scolded. "I'm sorry Sir but I'm trying my best, She apologized. "Alright, then please pay attention, The teacher said letting her breathe a sigh of relief. She returned home and was going to her room when her mom stopped her. "I received a call from your teacher, She said. "Geet, why are you not paying any attention in the class. I hope you are only studying and not into other things, Her Mom scolded.
"What do you mean Mom, Geet said frustrated. "Are you thinking about any boys or anything ...I saw this written in your notebook, who is he...you are coming late these days and not paying attention, how will you become a Doctor like this, She scolded rubbing Geet on the wrong side. "I think I should ask you the same question mom...I saw you today with that man. Did you leave Dad for h.., before she could complete her mom slapped her. "I lived for you and your brother and this is what you think of me what did I ask only for you to study and get good grades so that you can..., Her Mom yelled. "So that I can become a doctor, did you ever ask me what I wanted and you slapped me when I asked you a question...I'm so done with my life here..I'm leaving, Geet yelled running out of the house crying.
"Geet, Geet wait please dear don't go Momma is sorry, Geet ...Geet, Her mom yelled but to no avail as she was already out of sight. "Mom what happened, Karan said stepping in the house worried to find their mom crying. "Geet...she left the house as I slapped her, Their mom said. "Geet...oh no Mom please don't cry I will find her, probably she must be at Meera's. I will call her, Karan said calling Meera. "Yes bhai, She answered. "Meera, is Geet at your place, Karan said. "No, is there something wrong, She asked. "Ah, nothing if she comes by tell her to stop at your place, I will come there to take her, He said. "Alright, She said.
Geet ran aimlessly, she was hurt she recalled not going anywhere with her friends just so that she can study and appease her mom but her Mom's words hurt her badly, she wasn't in a right state of mind and just felt like escaping it all.
She knew they would contact Meera so she didn't go to her place instead she found herself standing in front of that library. "How come I landed up here, She said. "Well, then if I'm here then let me go and hide in here for sometime. Mom will be worried and will understand that she was wrong in hitting me, She thought. She went in and was crossing that room when she heard the same flapping sound coming from there. "Anybody in there, She called but there was no response. She was about to leave when she found the same book fallen on the ground. "I guess we left it like that, ah let me read this for sometime to kill time, She said picking it up.
"The girls landed up in Ancient country of Roselia where they were captured by thugs, just when they thought they were about to die ...a young man rescued them, She read shocked. "What...why is it all written in here ...wasn't all that a dream...it can't be real.., She said. Before she could think further, she was blinded by that red light again. She woke up to find herself in the same country. "I am inside a book, She was shocked.
